First Cycle in Awhile- looking for feedback

What's up everyone, hope everyone is doing well. I'm 28 not 20 just the handle.

I used to be a regular reader and poster. I took a step away but I'm back and I'm starting to begin my investigation for my first cycle in years.

Full transparency I had to take some time off from training because I had a Nissen Fundoplication & Hiatal Hernia repair at the end of August/2016. This resulted in a very tedious recovery, significant weight loss and muscle atrophy. This is definitely one of the reasons I'm starting to do my research about getting back in the game.

I've never done a proper cycle, only var only cycles but I did two of them with great results. This isn't what I'm looking for this time and I've consulted a friend of mine who has done a variety of different combinations.

This is what he tabled as a starting point for my research and I instantly knew the community I wanted to discuss this with because I always valued most people's opinions on here and enjoyed the banter.

Penciled proposal: 16 weeks

Test prop and var- 400mg T-prop a week and 60mg of var daily Spiked to 600mg and 80 mg split after 2 months
HCG and nolvadex pct.

That or replace the prop with sustanon 250 which is short ester long ester combo. Very good strand of gear, but stacks a lot of mass.

I'm still very much in my initial stages and would really appreciate some opinions, insight etc. (I have thorough hormonal blood work that anyone can take a look at)

Test is test. Only differences are the esters. 16 weeks of prop is a ton of pinning. I would use test e or test cyp instead. Var isn't really known to put on a ton of mass.
I would give the beginner cycle stickys a read since you never done a proper first cycle before.
 
Personally I like Test E as a base to run and use test Prop for an initial kicker. Being that it is your first in a while it might do you right if you stick with just test.

Your goals are an important thing as what compounds to use and add to your Test cycle
 
Appreciate both responses and I will definitely read the beginner stickys.

In terms goals I need to harden up and I don't really want really wet gains. I was also thinking just do test e as a base and ease myself back in.

The one tabled by my friend seemed like a heavy cycle and if I do decide to run just test e would you guys propose shortening to 10-12 weeks rather then a 16 ?

Get acclimated back to the gym f ir several months before you start. Your tendons and conmrctive tissues needs to be strengthened before muscle strength overloads the weaker link and boom your injured
 
If just test-e, 12 weeks min. If your bloods look good go to 16.

Without a kickstart, most don't really feel the kick until week 6-ish. Then you need some weeks to get your gym work done!

I like 14 weeks as it gives me two months after the kick to work, work, work

This ^^^ is important. I am 65 and even when younger I would be off a time and then jump on cycle the first 2 week or so back. This can damage to your joints and tendons. I have suffered problems by not adhering to that common sense approach.
