Im usually in the field all week and the only thing i'm able to eat is MREs unless i bring something. Im in the infantry so im pretty active when im out there, so i usually eat whatever i can get my hands on.

What are some ideas for a few things i can prepare beforehand or things to buy that are prepackaged?

Do you have a cooler you can bring with and pack it full of food? I would go with mostly chicken breast and hardboiled eggs. You can bring cucumbers and a peeler, peel it down and eat it like a bananna. This is what I do. I have to be able to eat quick and sometimes Im still working or taking a quick piss break. I dont want to be obvious about me eating cause it looks like your slackin. So I can eat a chicken breast and a cuke in less than 2 min.

Other things you can bring are; peanut butter (dont forget a spoon), bagels, pre mixed protein shakes, any kind of meat, cherry tomatoes (pop em like grapes), baked sweet potato, half a gallon of milk, etc

He's probably got an assault pack lol.

Canned tuna/bagged tuna, but the sodium is too high. You can get a vacuum sealer right before the field problem and seal up some tuna or chicken, but it won't keep if you are out on a hot one. Bags of pre-mixed protein shakes and creatine mixed in is a good idea; you guys still have canteen cups? Or hell, bring a shaker cup. Peanut butter singles or a whole jar is another good idea. A lot of this shit can get vacuum sealed and stored ok, cuts down on weight etc.

MREs suck, but they are caloric as shit.

Haha yea ill be out of an assault pack. I usually bring jerky and tuna packets. PB is a good idea. I also usually bring a few shakes worth of protein. Yes, we still have canteen cups, and i also have a jet boil.

Protein powder mixed with natural peanut butter in baggies was my go to. Don't get too ambitious with amount per baggie though - just approx. 1scp + 2tbsp per baggie so it doesn't explode inside your ruck or pack. I could fit one in each of my ammo pouches beside the spare mags, no problems from belly dives or anything surprisingly.

You've already got jerky which is another good one imo...home-made stuff with less sodium is preferable if you can source it or make it yourself.

If you guys have the loaf of bread squashed into the size of a muffin that's obviously something to avoid, and building on that idea you can pick and choose the best 2000 calories or so out of a MRE and get rid of 2000 garbage ones - assuming you'll be eating two or three times a day with your jerky / peanut butter+protein powder to supplement as needed.

In the field I take quest bars, dry almonds, tuna packs, jerky, whole grain was a crackers, almond bitter packets, some kind of low glycemic whole grain energy bars stuff like that.
I fucking refuse to eat mre's
