Gyno surgery, Help!

Hey all...
I'm scheduled for gyno surgery for october 27th. My surgeon wants to do just ultrasonic liposuction, but I kind of think I need glandular excision. He says I should be fine with just the lipo I don't want to end up having to pay for a second surgery as this shit is expensive! BTW...it's gyno from puberty, not roid related. Thanks

here is a pic of me pinching off the excess tissue/fat.

:( Damn that's exactly how my chest looks. Guess I'll be getting surgery too someday down the road.

As far as your concerns, just ask the surgeon if he guarantees his work. I would think any surgeon worth his degree would be willing to offer something akin to a "satisfaction guarantee" for peace of mind.

also...the tissue that i'm pinching off is attached to the muscle not the nipple if that makes a difference...thanks all, don't want to waste 3000 dollars on nothing!

I have had 2 gynecomastia surgery's. One when I was 14 another at 26. Every single person I have talked to over the years on forums, with out exception, has been very disappointed with just lypo. Check out Gynecomastia.org ; there are 100's of horror stories from individuals who had just lypo, went to cheap surgeon, etc etc. Check out some of the pictures on that site. Most of the lypo only surgeries wind up looking like they never had surgery at all.

Also DO NOT underestimate how large your glands are. I had VERY mild gyno... 2 pennies stacked max. I was horrified to find out after surgery that it was 2 pennies stacked on top of a pancake of flat gyno tissue. Which means there was potential for it to really get out of hand.

Make sure you insist on a maximum gland removal. My first surgeon got fancy and left some tissue for "the perfect contour". Perfect set up for another surgery down the road.

I had both surgeries covered in full by my insurance as well. PM me if you need help.

I had surgery myself last year, glands were removed and i also had lipo.

My surgeon said there is only so much he can acturly remove on this procedure, because if too much fat is taken away the nipples go inverted, my right nipple acturly went inverted for 3 months, but its popped back out now.

If it was just lipo on myself i wouldnt of been satisfied, im still not 100% satisfied and i probably never will be, because im so fussy, but im happy i went ahead with it and i feel alot more confident in myself wearing tshirts and not having to make my nipples hard all the time, because they were so puffy like yours are, now they are just normal... the scars can't be seen either unless your looking for them, they healed up really well.

But to anwser your question i think you should get the glands or as much of the glands removed as possible or you might not be too happy with the results, it will cost you more though, but to be honest to be happy inyourself i think its a small price to pay.

The lipo will leave marks on your chest aswell when your chest is streched you can see where the fat has been removed.

Long brings up a great point. It more than likely that you will never be 100 percent happy with your results. Look for improvement not a complete fix. Keep your expectations realistic.

Exactly.

what you have in your mind and how you want it to look its more then likly not going to look like that. The surgeon will get you to sign some paper work saying that the surgery may not be 100% accurate aswell.

for the purposes of saving money do you think glandular excision by itself would be ok...or should I be getting lipo too? everything you've guys said so far has been very helpful.

I persoanlly think get both the lipo and the glands removed and if you can't afford it right now save untill you can, or maybe look for another surgeon, the cheapest isn't always the best.

My insurance only covered the glandular removal. I had the option to just take that or pay out of pocket for lypo as well. My surgeon advised me that a glandular only surgery was problematic for cosmetic reasons. It will leave an crater on your chest; as well as an indented nipple.

When a surgeon suggests lypo only or excision only this should raise a major red flag. A lot of unethical doctors offer these two options separately in order to make it affordable to patients that otherwise would not be able to get the complete surgery.

You really need to spend a day or so on gynecomastia.org. They have double board cert. doctors on that site that regularly answer questions.
