Been on Test cream for over 1 year and I have been experiencing some mild but continuous hair thinning. I don't want to use Finasteride because of side effects, same with Rogaine. I am currently using Nizoral shampoo EOD. Are there any other options that I have. Please help.

I've had GOOD success with avodart (dutasteride), which is more effective than finasteride, side effects seem to be milder, but they were fairly mild with finasteride also. I have heard some good things regarding spirolactonone, sp? (spiro), but i've never tried it, it is topical.

Side Effects:
The most common adverse reactions to dutasteride therapy are impotence, reduced libido, and difficulty ejaculating. Gynecomastia was also noted during clinical trials, but occurred in less than 1% of patients. Some patients have also developed allergic reactions to the drug, including rash, itching, edema, and hives

The DHT inhibiting effects of dutasteride make this drug of some interest to bodybuilders and athletes, particularly those concerned with the androgenic component of testosterone-based steroids. Dutasteride is capable of reducing the androgenic side effects produced by DHT conversion, changing the profile of testosterone drugs measurably. Provided moderate doses of testosterone are being used, the result can be a substantial reduction in the occurrence of oily skin and acne. For those prone to male pattern hair loss, dutasteride may also reduce the harsh impact of testosterone on the hairline. Note that as a selective type-2 inhibitor, finasteride is also effective at lowering DHT levels in the scalp (and reducing hairline impact of testosterone use), but does not work as well for reducing oily skin and acne.

I rescently started using Nisim shampoo. This company claims their product is just as effective only without the side effects of the drugs listed above. I've only heard of one other person using this shampoo on here, but after reading up on it, decided to try it out on cycle to prevent hairloss.

Thanks I will look into this...

im using Finasteride with NIzoral shampoo 2% and its helping a lot, a little less energy maybe is the only side effects, no problem with my libido and with getting erections. Dutasteride is a little more effective than Fina, since Fina blocks 70% of DHT and Duta blocks 95% of DHT. Suppose to have a little more sides but nothing huge, probably just a little greater % of people having a loss of Libido, but if you experienced no sides with Fina , theres a pretty good chance you wont have any with Duta either ;)

So for me like I said, Finasteride + NIzoral 2% shampoo is working fine.

There is also minoxidil 2 and 5% that is working well at the base of your forehead. And there is Dutasteride like I said and also Spiro which is pretty much the same as Minoxidil.

Hope it helped.
