HCG and insurance

Therealkozmo

Mr. Micropenis
I am 28 and my total testosterone level was 568. I had all of the low t symptoms. I found a hormone doctor in Austin and now I feel a lot better. The issue is it currently is costing me $250 a month. With more research I figured out I can reduce the cost of my treatment if I find a doctor that will let me get my prescriptions from a pharmacy myself instead of getting pre filled syringes or getting injections in the office. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist that specializes in low t tomorrow. I will bring in copy of lab that shows my level at 568. I have humana insurance and can get it covered if it is coded by the doctor as low t hypogonadism and not sexual dysfunction hypogonadism. Humana says if the doctor says it is medical necessity I can get the cypionate covered. The thing is the representative at humana couldn't find any evidence that the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) would be covered. Anyone know about getting Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) covered by insurance? Thanks

With those numbers I will be surprised if you have any luck for the T. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a pita to get covered. I am still wiring to hear if mine got covered.
They sent it already so I am afraid to even think what it would/will cost if it doesn't get picked up. It can be had from a compounding pharmacy far cheaper then what the average pharmacy sells it for as food or thought.

hCG is about $100 for 10,000iu at any pharmacy.

No hCG will not likely be covered. If the insurance company covered the T with those labs, it would be nuts. Any claims adjuster that looks at that, will deny the claim unless there are abnormalities somewhere else in the bloodwork.

WOW!
$100 for 10,000iu????
Damn!
I'm starting to think the $50 a week {200 a month} I pay my local testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinic is a pretty good deal.
I get:
160mg Test Cyp per week
4 or 5 pills of Anastrazole per month
HCG 250iu per week.

  • 10,000IU is enough for 40 weeks, so that's like $10 a month. (I don't know if one is able to stretch it out that far, but dose-wise that holds true.)
  • A vial of testosterone cypionate is $65 out of pocket from costco. At 165mg/wk, that will last you 12 weeks or $21.67 a month.
  • Anastrozole price varies, but 30mg is usually around $15 from most pharmacies. That's $2.50 a month there.
That's $34.17 if you do it on your own through a doctor. That's how most of these longevity clinics are able to operate a business that's not only profitable, but has a pretty high profit margin. I'm very jealous of the guys that get this completely covered by their insurance, but I can live with my ~$25 a month (I don't use HCG) I pay for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). ;)

Edit: I am in no way taking away from services like IMT that truly provide a service for guys that are unable to find the proper care they need and deserve. I just wanted to provide an example on how it works through insurance and if one is able to self-inject/medicate under supervision.

OP: Is your total test figure BEFORE treatment, or after? 500+ng/dL is not in the low-T territory, and I would find it impressive to say the least if you were able to have a diagnosis of hypogonadism applied to you if that is the case.

Halfiwit..FIRST off..your far far far from a half-wit.
Your stuff always makes for a pretty good read.

Yeah--I know what you mean about those prices.
I looked into how much stuff would cost if I just went to the pharmacy.
But as you know---that usually wont happen.
I suppose I could go the 'underground' route and STILL save a ton.
Problem is, being that this is my first experience with anabolics, I didn't wanna risk using bunk gear.
I wouldnt know how to comprehend the blood work even if I did get it on my own.
{although sites like this have guys like you that usually help--and that my friend is PRICELESS}

i sure as shit would LOVE to self inject-cause there's no way it's nearly as expensive as the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinic.
Ya know...I live in a pretty big city. Las Vegas has TONS of doctors---somewhere--somebody has one that is willing to do it. I know it. Can't find it--but I KNOW it.
Even if I hadda PAY for the doctor's visit--it still has to work out cheaper.
Lemmie tell ya--$200 a week for me is a stretch.

Yeah, finding a good doctor is definitely a lot like winning the lottery. I'm sure you'll be able to find one if you ever get tired of that clinic, although if it's working for you - why fix something that's not broken? I'd gladly pay top dollar if I could afford it for an HGH/Deca/Test/HCG/AI program, but alas - I'm back in school with a student's budget once again. :(

Not so good at math?

160mg of test costs about $5.50.
250iu of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) costs about $2.50
Your anastrozole is maybe $2.00.
Needles are pennies.

So you pay $50 a week instead of about $10. Doesn't seem like that great of a deal to me. :-)

Edit: I hadn't seen Halwit's reply before I wrote this. Sorry for the redundancy.

Just an FYI since people have already said prices. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) can be had for half of what's listed without insurance. I lost count of how many com pharmacies I called that's ranged from several hundred (cashing in on the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) diet them greedy bastards to a little more then a song) then I called the one and it was $45 with an additional $5 for shipping for 10,000 IU. If I run into issues that's who I will
Be transferring my script too.( its a totally legit com pharamcey so a script is needed)
My insurance has an Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) specialty place. They only uses Pregnly, plus they will give extra bac water free hypes of your choosing and double the Pregnyl for using their service for standrd insurance rate. The getting it covered is tricky though. Aromatase inhibitor (AI) that's a big hell no and proper amount of T for therapy that's another no why would they do anything that makes sense.
I figured it out at $30.00 for twenty weeks if my insurance would had covered everything using their recommended perfered pharamecy for long term meds. They double the meds for the same price. That's free hypes, free shipping and anything else you ask for that sounds reasonable related to what they are sending. That would have been test, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and an AI.
So now I am stuck doing half n half just to keep my hormones in check. But damn I remeber how getting the hormones in check changed my whole outlook on living with a permanent injury. No way I would go back before. The only way I found out was by using a clinic so they do have their purpose. I would have never dreamed the hormonal imbalances was causing literally all of my emotional issues. I was an in constant pain, upset about not being able to do what I used to be able too, rarely sleep and stressed about the whole mess with the medical bills so I thought that was the issue. Nope it was all hormonal. Plus I'm putting on all the muscle I lost, almost to pre injury weight too. Getting around better and don't get injureies when I'm in the gym. In physical therapy it felt like asses n elbows for those who know what that means. Again all the no T in my system.
I just couldn't afford it anymore. Hell I can't get em to pay the medical bills they are suposed to so I knew the clinic was out as an option.
Its one of those If they are out of whack I see why people will do whatever it takes to get it T/E under control by any means necessary.

You want to disclose what this legal pharmacy is? That's not against the rules if its not an illegal source. If its a completely legit pharmacy, I'd love to cut the cost of my hCG in half. Please do share

Before therapy. The test was done in the morning so it would just get lower from there. Obviously the doctor wants to sell this stuff. My initial blood test was free of charge. The doctor said at my age my levels should be atleast 800 if not 1100. I'm all for that because I feel a lot better now. Later after being on treatment for a little while and getting more bloodwork the phlebotomist said wow your levels are high. I have free office visits, so I asked the doctor if there was any side effects with my total t being to high. She said not that she knew of and also told me what she goes off of is how I feel.

What is stopping your testes from shrinking if your not using hcg?

It's broken because it cost more then I should pay. They told me they raised the price to $300 a month for new patients. I said you told me if I reffered people who sign up for program you will give me a month free and I told people about the $250 price. The office manager said ok but only the next two people and then we will reevaluate from there.

I agree with your whole post. I have my appointment tomorrow with the low t endocrinologist so it would be great if you would share that legal compounding pharmacy you get your Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) from.

If anyone else has more information that can help us or has any questions about anything I posted please don't hesitate to post it.

Curious how long it took you to feel better after starting. Also would like to hear what your TT and FT are now....don't think you posted them yet.

Well they gave me b12, test and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) all at the same time and it was probably partly placebo but I started feeling better that day. Ofcourse it kept getting better from there. My last lab which was drawn before injections came back with total t of 1300 and free t of 28.5. I know those numbers are high and I would say it is a pretty accurate guess that my TT is atleast 1500 right now.

For me it was probably 4 week where things really changed. I had a lot going on though. Muscles atrophied in back, couch potoato lifestyle out of necissity to just to get through what I had to do that was absolutely necessary. At times weeks of doing nothing so I could recover from overdoing it. I had a piss poor doctor who did nothing in terms of helping but he's been fired! Pain meds, figuring out which ones were causing nasty sides etc. changing those out for ones better suited for me. It was was a viscous cycle. Beginning of the year I made a pack with mysef gym, back to eating healthy again and one way or another getting a semblance of my old life back it end up fubar trying. I started last year changes things but I think lack of t really made it hard. I couldn't make any gains. Felt miserable working out. Always straining stuff. Before that my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) was one injection ever two weeks and it didn't do much before that was every three weeks and before that was once a month.
My last test my T levels were at 750 Ish and E was 28. E was a tad to low for me but that's my fault. Money is tight so I can't afford the free T test or some of others tests I would really like to get. My doc won't run some of the important stuff either. My E and such is all stuff I do on my own.
