Heart rate at 200 ? is that safe ?

Fart Knocker
So i went to the gym today. cause i decided that eating clean alone wasnt going to fix my obesity problem. Ive usually ate clean BUT I dont work out and sometimes i would eat alot of carbs at night. and basicly the snow ball effect. once your fat you keep getting fatter.:bash:

any way. So i entered my stats 24 260lbs etc into the tread mill. My heart rate was at 120-130ish when I go to the doc they say that its very good/ ( i dont remember the numebrs)

Any way i want to get my heart back in shape before I do any thing else. So i jumped on the thread mill and did about 3.6 miles per hour for 30 minutes. at the middle setting incline. eventually my heart rate rose to 200 .

It kind freaked me out. I took an ECA before I went. I also hardly broke a sweat. IS this normal ? SHould I tell my doctor? :newbie:

The meter wasn't reading accurately if it said your HR was 200 and you weren't sweating. When my HR hits 170 I'm drenched. Mind you I'm not obese, but I would suspect if I was, the sweating would be worse.

If you're feeling any chest pain, it might be time to slow up, but if you're just out of breath, work through it!

Be very careful with the ECA's. 200 isn't crazy fast. Your max HR should be right around that. 220 max arbitrary and subtract your age. Lets say 195...you should train between 60% and 80% of that new max (depending on your goal, cardio or fat loss). If you are healthy 200 is fine for you to work up to but being that you are over weight and probably always have been I would be careful....24 isn't to young for cardiac arrest.

Oh and your normal resting HR should be between 60-100.

thanks for the replies guys. I was just slightly out of breath I was sweating just a bit. I think the machine is accurate. I was at the doctors getting a physical and he didn't mention anything about my heart rate or bp. he said it was normal and good. idk. I think it might have been the eca. I noticed that breathing correctly would lower it. I'll continue since I had no pain and within seconds it would fall down and ready for another session... thanks guys
