Hello Forum Members. I am new to forum and need some help with my TRT experience.

I am 33 years old. I went to see my urologist 2.5 months ago about Brain fog, low libido, and fatigue. he suggested giving TRT a try @ 100mg/wk + HCG 500iu every Mon/Wed/Fri. See bloodwork before I started...

Testosterone,Serum - 381
Testosterone, Free - 9.07
%Free - 2.38
Dihydrotestosterone - 39
Estradiol - 15.4
IGF-1 - 202
SHGB - 27.6

After my first shot I noticed great improvement with my brain fog a day later. it was like my brain woke up for the first time in 2 years. However after my first week of the trt, I started to take the hcg and noticed a lot of my improvements would fade away with each 500iu shot. By the 5th shot I was having bad panic attacks, anxiety, cold intolerance, insomnia and the brain fog got even worse. and hasn't gotten any better after quitting. I quit using the hcg after my 7th shot and Went to the my urologist to do a blood test (See below) and my urologist told me to stop everything all together. That was 4 weeks ago and now I am here today..

Only values he tested..
Testosterone - 935
Estradiol - 13.4

my doctor had no idea what and how this happen. I am really hoping someone can help me in the right direction. After doing some research maybe I had a thyroid issue? is it possible that HCG was causing these hyperthyroid episodes for me who possibly was in a hypo state? is it a dopamine issue?

Thank you in advance for any criticism and advice you can provide.

Ok first lets clarify what you wrote........."TRT a try @ 100mg/wk + HCG 500iu every Mon/Wed/Fri." ............ So you take HCG at 500iu on monday then 500iu on weds then 500iu on Friday? For a total of 1500iu per week?

Also you wouldnt actually get any noticible results from your 1st injection on the very next day. It takes a feww weeks actually . And 100mg a week can be considered low dose. Although your Test levels did Jump into the 900s !! Not bad for 100mg/wk. But yeah, anything you think you noticed was placebo.

You didnt mention any AI either.....Arimidex or extamastain??

thanks for your responses and ...Yes. with the hcg...That is correct. It was intended to keep me fertile during TRT. I was taking 1500IUs per week with no AI. Also, I am almost certain that it wasn't placebo from a cognitive standpoint. I felt amazing after 24 hours from my first shot. This was the first thing I felt from TRT. That's why I am wondering if I have a dopamine issue or a thyroid problem.

Your estradiol is crushed. If thats not a sensitive essay, probably isn't, then your E2 is much closer to 0 than it is to 13.

Its surprising your not taking an AI, with E2 numbers like that. It almost seems like the HCG stopped your estradiol production but that does't make any sense. HCG normally increases your E2, although not as much as you would think by reading the boards.

So I am at a a loss, unless it is your thyroid, but that last thing I would have done is quit taking TRT cold turkey. Obviously I would have went with just T for a bit and try to get my E2 up. Your TT at 935 is actually great.

I think new guys dream up a lot of the sides....... :)

For some the HCG gives a slight euphoric feeling. It was probably this that caused the initial good feelings. I am by no means a doc but I didn't catch what type of hypogonadalism you were diagnosed with. If you still wanted kids, I am wondering why a restart was not given a try first. Again maybe I missed this part. Otherwise I think the higher level of HcG and/or the LOW estradiol are the culprit

joint pain and weird arthritic issues? your aromatase gene might be deficient. you might need to look into that and take some estradiol. check your estrone too. make sure you are getting a sensitive estradiol test, dont trust hospital or clinic estradiol tests get the sensitive test from labcorp, arup, or quest labs if you are in the usa.

I think you nailed it! I have been chasing anxiety issues myself and while I was wondering if it was TRT related I also wonder if it was more self created. I feel your subconscious has a lot of power and can create issues that do not really exist.

The fact that the OP stated the brain fog was gone in a day proves a lot IMO.

You need to get complete blood work done to figure out what your issues are. You can't tell from just your testosterone number what is going on. You need to test all the required basic bloodwork for hormone replacement therapy.

CBC, CMP, Testosterone free and Total, SHBG, Estradiol (sensitive assay), IGF-1, PSA, Thyroid panel (TSH, T3, T4), Cortisol, DHEA, Homocysteine, Lipid Panel, LH FSH.

After you get complete bloodwork done, it will be much easier to zero in on your issues.
