Had my inguinal hernia fixed last week. Not too bad so far. I cant even think about getting back to the gym for several weeks though, but am encouraged with recovery so far.

Cant wait to get back in the gym. Anybody here ever been out for longer than 4 - 6 weeks with this type injury?

Thanks.

Had triple hernia surgery about 2 years ago. Got back in the gym after about 6 weeks with light lifting and cardio. Make sure you wear some type of support (I wore a belt extremely tight) when you get back in the gym. It takes the mesh up to a year to completely heal. I am fine now. Actually just finished a cycle and I am stronger now than I have ever been in my life. You'll be fine as long as you are smart about it.

BIGEGE,

Thanks for the info. Thats good to hear you got back that quickly with that type of injury. Mine is no where near that severe as a triple hernia so thats very encouraging to hear.

Going to use the belt as support like you suggested.
Thanks very much for the insight.

Was out 6-8 after having my mid rectus abdominal hernia repaired in January. It was a genetic defect in my rectus muscle that finally blew after 31 years and a lot of sports.

My core strength is still on the mend but I have already competed twice this season (highland games) and am getting stronger everyday.
I am still trying to regain my stats in my core lifts (dead, squat, push press) that involve ab strength and blocking. But my new regime includes a lot of core work everyday.
