ran some bloodwork saturday, hct was 54 rbc was 18.3. no big deal i figure I'll donate this morning and everything will be cool. long story short i was deferred because my blood pressure was 188/113 and my RBC was 18.8. i live 30 miles from the nearest blood bank so its a pain to drive n donate. any tricks to lowering BP temporarily so i can donate blood? i called my doc asking for lisinilpro but prob wont hear back today. also have a buddy who is an er nurse i asked if she would help me out.

Get there early, don't have any stimulants, and start taking an AI if on cycle. That's a high blood pressure, and I'm one of the guys that is pretty relaxed about bp numbers.

i was there at 8am when they opened. i have to work tomorrow so i was going to check my bp at 4pm or so and try to make it in around 6pm. i live 40mins away from the blood bank.

i lost 5 pounds of water weight when i slept so i knew my blood would be thick. i am on an ai, sat morning my e2 was 28 nonsensitive. i hadnt had any stimulants since friday night. i just had some soda.

While hematocrit has an impact on blood pressure, most studies I've seen indicate that it needs to be VERY high before it has the ability to produce hypertension. Are you on cycle, or just TRT? If TRT, what's your protocol look like?

I mention getting there early as even being in a hurry can greatly increase blood pressure. If you get there early, you have time to relax, take some deep breaths, and bring it down. I've been deferred once for bp, so I have made it a habit to try to arrive 10-15 minutes before my appointment. :)

Edit: Changed my wording as it seemed I was downplaying the role of HCT and bp. :p

yeah i was a little rushed and excited to get things done this morning. my chiropractor has a similiar bp machine to the one at the bloodbank. we played around with it and i think i can get it under 180/100.

protocol : 80mg cyp, 250 iu hcg .25mg liquidex every 3.5 days.

i added a screenshot of saturdays labs only thing missing is free t4 n total testosterone.

i just ordered the cialis.

RCs carry no dosage info, I recommend you try 0.2 to 0.3 mL at most if it's your first time using Cialis.
Stuffy nose and headache are common side effects - I get both if I use a little too much.

im thinking taking cialis before i goto the bloodbank might be a bad idea. the nurses there are hot. might trigger me. heh

i lost 6 pounds in my sleep. cant seem to get my body to let water into my soft tissues. I'll take the weight loss but yeah.

just a side note here -- you can also be deferred for high pulse rate . I've been deferred for high BP on one occasion, I've taken cialis on other occasions and then was deferred for high pulse rate (even though the bp was fine). cialis can raise your pulse rate , so if your resting pulse is in the 80s normally , you can easily jump up to high 90s and be deferred.

Note: also if your a beer or alcohol drinker , then do NOT drink for a couple days before your donation . this effects bp and heart rate as well

another technique I've used to make sure i do not get deferred with either high pulse or high blood pressure .. several days before donation, drop all salt, drop all sugars, and go zero to no carbs.

and, a more extreme thing I've done .. I'll stop my trt protocol all together and just go hypo for a month or two, hct goes down, bp goes down, and blood donation is just fine note: thats usually after blasting all sorts of other compounds though too .. if your just a trt guy you shouldn't have that high of hct and blood pressure anyhow, you may want to look into your protocol . on cycle my BP has gone up to 210/100 . on my low dose trt , I'm currently sitting at 121/65 this morning.

my bp was still too high but the guy let me dpnate anyways. i was 160/90 before i left when i got there i was 195/110. i closed my eyes and meditated for a few mins and he said it was close enough. going forward i will keep track of my blood pressure and donate platlets in a few weeks. maybe run a cbc every 3-4 weeks.
