How Long Do LH and FSH Stay Suppressed?

I haven't been able to find much info on the topic so I thought I'd ask:

If you were to come off TRT for fertility purposes, how long would you expect LH and FSH to be suppressed before creeping back to pre-TRT levels? I know this will vary for everyone and is in part dictated by pre-TRT numbers but is there a general amount of time when you start to see some recovery?

I read in one place that LH can recover in 2-3 weeks but couldn't verify this. I'm assuming no clomid or hcg for the above question but I'd also be interested in understanding how the addition of clomid or hcg would alter the recovery time.

Thanks guys.

It could be weeks, months, years or never. If it was me, I would stay on TRT and add HCG. Give that a try and if it doesn't work you could try a restart.

Of course, the smartest thing you can probably do it call IMT. They have a lot of experience doing this exact thing and can customize a protocol for you.

Thanks. My protocol actually includes hcg. I'm not concerned about it at the moment but with past fertility issues it was something on my mind. Our past issues are a big reason I included hcg in my protocol. I just didn't know if there was a certain amount of time in general that you begin to see recovery. The studies I saw varied greatly from 2 weeks to 1 year. Maybe that's the answer though!

Well, I stopped for 7 days. I was on androgel. The last couple of days I was exhausted for my night job. Also, I have felt nothing below the belt. I am pretty sure my T must have tanked. I didn't feel like waiting, so I applied it today. We'll see how I feel at work tonight.

so what happened with your clomid restart ?
You work nights ?
how do you get accurate labs for a T diagnosis....T levels readings are suppose to be done in the AM upon wakening ?

The problem is not with LH/FSH suppression as much as testicular unresponsiveness to these hormones following exogenous administration. There was a study done using 250 mg test E/wk for 21 weeks that showed that LH production normalized after 3 weeks, but it took up to 10 weeks for testosterone production to normalize. Atrophied testes take a while before they can respond appropriately to LH

The clomid restart, I gave up.

I work days. Have a part time evening job. Apollon, I realize now that my last T reading might not have been too telling. My doctor never mentioned anything about not applying the gel before a test. I applied androgel the day I tested, and it was about 12pm. It was 750, that was about 3 weeks ago. I was off today, and was with my girl in the morning. I felt nothing down there. In fustration, I applied the gel around 12:30. I feel better already. I am starting to believe that my before TRT TT at 400, was just not enough. Causing my low sex drive, among other things. Hey, I am 58, soon to be 59. Might as well accept my T is low.
