im 6ft 195 and ive read that for losing fat you should multiply your weight by 10. so for me that would be 1950 calories a day. dose that sound right to you guys?? Also whats good for bulking and would it change the amount of calories if you're taking steroids. Cause i'll be on test during my bulking. is 5500-6000 calories a day good or is that too much??

Wesley, I don't think an absolute number works. A bulking calorie count for someone who is 165 would probably be a little differnet for someone who was 255.

Anyway, I'd like to hear people's multipliers for cutting, bulking, and maintenance as well.

hey gunz i've heard it goes like this: multiply your body weight by 10-12 for cutting, 17.5 for maintainance & 25 or a little more for bulk. So for a 200 pounder like me thats around 2000-2400 cals for cutting, about 3450 to maintain & 4875 or more to bulk up. Anyone else heard anything like that?

fellas- it all has to due with your LBM(lean body mass) or in other words how much muscle you have!! to loose fat you need to eat enough to keep it and still loose. when you bulk you need to eat 500-800 more calories to gain without over doing it and getting fat!!
the answer is different for every person on here. many factors involved, that is why people pay me to do it for them!!

Makes sense that it would have to do with lean mass (total weight - fat weight (correct?)).

Because a 285 Bodybuilder is a lot different than a 285 LB guy with a 49" waist.

Sonis your number of +500-800 cals during a bulk. This number is for a natural correct, doesn't seem in-line with what guys using gear use?

Like Sonis said, its different for eveyone. And unfortunately, the only way to find out is through trial and error.

You need to calculate your BMR, which is basically how many calories your body burns in a day. Once you know what your maintenance level is, thats your starting point. Increase cals above your bmr and you will add weight. Decrease cals and you will lose weight. You just need to check your bf% regularly so you can determine if your eating to much, or too little, etc.
