How much dextrose goes in the PWO whey protein shake?

I have a ratio of 1:1.

Gym traning is not that calorie spending that you have to consume shitloads of carbs after a workout IMO.

No, 1:1 ratio is more appropriate for preworkout. The 2:1 ratio after workout is not for "spent calories" but to aid in quick glycogen replenishment.

I use a 25/25/50/50

25 Grams Casien

25 Grams Whey

50 Grams Malto

50 Grams Dextro

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Casein slows down the absorption of both the whey and the malto/dextro, it's not the right thing to be using post workout

yea casien is a before bed thing for me.slow protein action keeps the body anabolic durring sleep or so i've read.????????????

I would wait an hour or so for the casein. Do the malto or dextrose right after workout with some whey.

If the dextrose is too sweet, try some maltodextrose. I've read about guys having good success with 1/2 dex 1/2 malto mixed together... so you'd actually be getting a 1:1:1 ratio of whey, dextrose and maltodextrin

Are these ratio's by weight (like grams) or by volume? I guessing by weight. I know how much protein is in a scoop of my whey protein powder; that's easy. But the dextrose is a little bit more difficult to figure out and I don't have a proper scale available to figure it out.

I'm just adding in the dextrose for now, not the maltodextrin. I've resisted the dextrose for a long time, for a couple of reasons, but I've decided to but my bias against sugar aside and do what everyone says is a good idea.

on the dextrose I bought it gives you grams per tablespoon. I have to take 5 tablespoons for 100 grams and it is hard to drink as it is so dam sweet.

The dextrose that I received states a serving size of 1.25 tsp (4g) has 4g of carbs and 15 calories. But I also know that the FDA doesn't require very specific numbers on these nutritional labels. For example, if the product has 4.9 carbs and 19.6 calories, the food manufacturer is allowed to put 4 carbs and 15 calories on the package.

Somewhat unrelated but interesting to me: You haven't really had something sweet until you've had pure sucralose: 600 times sweeter than sugar. When I used to mix it with water, even the air turned super sweet because sucralose is so intensely sweet and the little bit that got into the air made the air sweet. Actually, pure sucralose tastes bitter for some people; not me though.

This is oversimplified, but I thought the point to the dextrose was to spike the insulin rather than replace the energy expended during the workout.

The idea is that caisen is slow digesting, so it is good at night when you aren't taking in protein every few hours like usual. I like cottage cheese before bed, which is mostly caisen protein.

Well that depends of how frekvent your meals are afterwards.

Sure, insulin is the bodys most anabolic homone, but the presence of amino acids must be very high. And taking to much simple carbs post workout is a good way for me to get fat.

I do not think that extreme levels of insulin is needed to get the anabolic response we are looking for.The preworkout drink has shown to be of more importance from an musclebuilding view.

Too many carbs whenever will make me fat. That is part of the reason I've hesitated to use dextrose in the PWO. When I was bulking, I simply used milk and I was extremely happy with the results, although it is easy to grow when you are just getting started.

Didn't know that. The preworkout shake should have what? Just protein?

The same thing as the postworkout drink, simple carbs and fast proteins. You can easily split the postworkout drink in half and take one before exercise.

There are tons on information that suports this out there.

50g Whey Protein,80g malto,20g dextrose & 5g glutamine in my post shakes find any more Dex makes it too sweet!
