How to avoid muscle loss during cardio?!

dedicatedbiceps

Bench double your weight?
I've just finished a 3 month bulking cycle (test,deca,dbol).

I want to do a cutting cycle now to get my BF down.

I do not want to lose any of my hard earned muscle during cardio. Do I just take glutamine before/during/after?

How do I avoid losing muscle during cardio?

How far into pct or post pct are you? You shouldn't be looking to cut weight cause your body is in it's most catabolic state while in pct and beyond. When you get blood work showing you're fully recovered then begin a cut or you'll just be making gains and losing them

Thanks for the info man. I just started post cycle therapy (pct). so I'll wait a little while after its complete to start cutting.

Wouldnt it make sense that if you have protein and calories before cardio you wont "burn" muscle but mostly fat.

apparently low impact cardio is better for what you are trying to do.
high intensity cardio burns carbs where as low intensity burns fat.

Take gluatmine before and after, bcaa's before and after, I would also eat a small complex carb before and a small amount of simple carbs after.

I might get flamed at but glutamine doesn't actually build muscle or stuff like that. Don't know why its so popular for that reason but it does the immune system a lot of good(if your sick you can't train!). Anyways mega dose them BCAA's if you got the money.

Lot's of diff opinions on this and like a lot of info on diet/workout etc. strategies change often. Some good info in the following article:

If you're doing something low intensity like walking or jogging/biking at a slow pace I think BCAAs/Glutamine before/after is really unnessary and a waste of money unless you plan on doing it for hours upon hours per cardio session

I don't know where people get the notion that HIIT is not good for burning fat. IMO HIIT is a far better option for the OP, because when you perform long-duration, moderate-intensity exercise, you can actually put yourself in a catabolic state in which you will start losing muscle mass. He's trying to keep all the muscle mass he can while losing fat. I wouldn't recommend doing it more than twice per week, but you are going to get more results and spend less time with this method. The only issue with HIIT is that you should only do it twice per week. I see a lot of advantages of doing LISS and HITT both twice per week.
