Newish here and checking out the different areas on the site. Wanted to get some opinions on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) vs AAS Cycling. I'm in my mid 30's but have been active throughout adulthood. My nutrition is and has been pretty on point and I engage in weight lifting, running, triathlon, and adventure racing. I'm about 5'8" at 165 and ~8% BF. I've got some injuries to my elbow, shoulder, back, and pelvic bone but they're managed. My problem is that I feel that my energy and motivation are waning. I'm interested in: increased muscle, incresased strength, faster running, healing injuries, increased libido, as well as greatly increased energy and recovery. So do I look into Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or just go big and do a cycle? Thanks.

Do you have blood work that warrants TRT?

This. TRT/HRT is not some optional treatment that you go to the doctor and say, "hey, put me on some hormones!". The doctor makes the diagnosis based on your blood work and your symptoms. You won't get any helped, medically, if your blood work doesn't warrant help.

Nope, haven't seen a doc yet. I'm admittedly a cynic/skeptic when it comes to our current medical system.

Have you both? If so, how was the experience and waiting periods/timeliness of everything? Did your insurance cover the Rx? Significant positive effects while on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or only minor? How bout side effects?

Took me about 6 months from the time I started getting tested until the time I went on a hormone regimen. Insurance covered it. I made the mistake of allowing a doctor put me on a topical gel. Had to go to another doctor to fix me. I asked for injections and I'm only 3 weeks in. Full time span is a year since I really started pursuing looking at my hormones. Felt off for close to 3 years total.

That's the kind of experiences I've had before. I actually checked into the possibility of low T over 10yrs ago. The medical industry has set points for various physiological aspects which are based around normal, or within the standard and not of significant deviation from the statistical norm. They look for diseased and malnutritive states which may indicate disease precursors etc. So, in the AAS forum, someone on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) mentioned you have to be below 300 I believe. So I think it probably depends on the doctor you go to and the symptoms you present. I don't really care to play games and bullshit around. It sounds like you may have encountered the exact situation I've encountered before with various health concerns. Doctors don't want me to die. I want help kicking ass. They will probably tell me to look into nutritional and herbal intervention unless my test comes back at like 0 or something or unless they're affiliated with a specific pharm co that is heavily marketing Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) etc. I don't wanna mess around with some T gel or deodorant or something and waste my time lol.

Not trying to be pessimistic. I definitely thank everyone who has replied and provided opinions etc. I will check around my area and see if I can consult with a sports med doc or something with reasonable ease.
