hypoglycaemia

Wanna be
Here's my situation. I have hypoglycaemia, so I have to watch what I eat. I have 6 egg whites, 3/4 cup oatmeal blended together to make a pancake, then I put a little natural peanut butter on it, not much at all. I also have an optimum nutrition whey protein drink with meal 1. About 2 hours after I eat I head for the gym. I tend to get "sleepy or light headed" after my meal. Am I eating the wrong stuff? I try to eat foods that have low GI but I still get dizzy. It is only with meal 1, the rest of the day I am ok, still feel tired and run down but for the most part I feel ok. What am I doing wrong? I eat 7 times a day and most all my meals are chicken breast, green beans and sweet taters. I have 3 protein drinks a day total and 5 meals. Can someone help me out with what I am doing wrong? I dont feel "energetic" at all or feel "healthy" even though I am eating very cleanly. This has been going on for a while now. Doc didnt give me any meds for it, he said I needed to eat healthy. What do I do? Should I drop the oatmeal and have instant grits in its place? Thank you in advance!

bro i know how you feel, i am hypoglycemic as well an ive noticed that as long as i eat at least every 2 hours with some kind of protein im fine. I think your problem is your shakes. Ive noticed that after i drink a shake i feel tired and want to vomit, but its the sugar in it. So try less shakes and more food, it worked for me

Yeah i may just up the egg whites and drop the shake till after my workout. a protein shake along with some oatmeal would make a great pwo meal right?

Hypoglycemia symtoms would typically appear not immediately after eating.

Easy way, I think, to find out if your syptoms are hypoglycemia or not is to take in some sugar when you get said symptoms and see if you soon feel better.

i really have no clue what is going on with me. the doc told me this about 10 years ago. what i am experiencing is..i am often very sleepy, tired, light headed and cranky. yes, eating m&m's or some pepsi does help but soon wears off and i am back to square 1. I have a blood sugar tester, i stick my finger and drop a dab of blood on it and it lets me know. This morning before i ate..still felt kinda dizzy..my sugar was 113 after church..which i was sleeping most of it because i was so tired i redid it and it was 96..this evening around 6pm it was 129. as you can see it goes up and down alot. i will check it again in the am first thing then again around 2pm then again around 7.

just sick of being sleepy and no energy at all.

>>It sounds like from your above response that you might have the beginnings of Diabetes! I know this b/cthis is the my dad felt before he collapsed and had to be admitted to the hospital where they found out.
