In need of answers

Hey,

This is my first time posting anything at this site, and I was just looking for some answers or help.

So, a little about me. I am a college student aspiring to do an ironman. I did a half last year and it didnt go so well because of my weight, 260 lbs. This year, I went to my doctor to see why I cant loose weight, but can gain fat like crazy. I was given a body fat test, 19%, and long story short(too late) I have very low testosterone both free and bounded.

For the past 4 weeks I have been eating healthy and working out 6 days a week for at least one hour aerobically and two to three days a week weight lifting. Since then I have gained about 4 pounds and don't feel energized. I asked the doc when and how i will feel when it kicks in, and he said, "everyone is different on when, and you will know when it kicks in".

I am doing 200mg of test. cypionate biweekly. I am doing my best at eating healthy and exercising but i haven't felt or seen any results. My goal is to weigh 215-220lbs. I am 6'0'' with below 20% BF.

Could someone please give me some guidance as to when I should start to feel more energetic and how long is a health time to get to my goal? Any suggestions are appreciated. :) Thank you and sorry it is so long!

Hi, i am also training to compete in an ironman.

Please list in detail what your meals looks like throughout the day and also your total daily macros (cal/proteins/carbs/fats)
How many meals are you eating? How many hours are they spaced apart?

Try also switching up your exercise regimen. You should try to aim for 5-6 day weight lifting with 4-5 days of cardio. What body parts do you work on when you train?

I eat 6 meals a day (Breakfast, Snack, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, Snack). 1800-2000 cal./70-80 protein/ 175-200 carbs/35-40 fat. Two hours spread apart, except for Snack to dinner that is 4 hours apart. Weight lifting wont get me to my goal, it will be working against myself. I am already a naturally big person in both fat and muscles. My fat is also not evenly distributed. When getting my body fat test, I was advised to get my testosterone levels check because My fat is all on my midsection and chest. I am getting discourage because of the lack of energy. I Would like to know when people started to feel the increased energy and what I should expect. Which Ironman are you doing?

I haven't decided yet, why are you only consuming 70-80 grams of protein?

I am just in training mode trying to drop fat, build lean muscle, building up my strength and endurance right now(I consume 200grams of protein daily)

I actually have a lot of muscle and I dont want to add to it. I just want to burn the fat and keep what muscle mass I have. Last week I did a workout with my buddies and I did a triple superset as our first part of the workout. Bench, flies, triangle pushups. It was 225, 70's and to failure. I ended up doing the bench 27x. So I have a lot of strength, with a lot of fat. I was told by my doctor to cut my fat and have a normal daily intake of protein.

First off, your cals seem really low for your weight and activity level. Geez, 1800-2000 no wonder you don't have tons of energy. You must be starving!
Why will weight lifting not assist you getting to your goal? Lean body mass burns fat. Also, if you're that calorie restricted with that low protein, you'll likely begin to cannabalize your lean mass and hold onto fat.
Dr's are required to take 1 nutrition class in college (undergrad) unless that's changed drastically in the last few years. I'm not saying your dr doesn't know what he's talking about, but maybe get some more focused help on the nutrition aspect to help you reach your goals.

Have you ever worn a heart monitor while you lift weights? You might be pleasantly surprised.
