Injection Questions

Is there a guide for performing self-injections? I'm not afraid of needles, just want to be sure I know how to do it properly.

1. You have to do something to get rid of air bubbles. What do you do?

2. Best location for solo injections? Glutes? Upper thigh?

3. I have read that accidentally injecting it (oil) into a vein or something can cause aspirating and emolism. Tips on how to watch out for veins?

4. How deep should the needle go?

HI Mate, some great sources on YouTube with full demos. I***8217;m assuming now you***8217;re asking about intramuscular injections only
.
1. If you have air bubbles, you should hold the syringe with the needle up right and flick the syringe until you have the air bubbles at the top then press the plunger until you start to see some of you gear protrude from the top of your needle. You***8217;re then ready to go with no trapped air.

2. This is your own preference I like to go for Gluts but otherwise common places are shoulders and outer thigh.

3. Correct and not good for you. But when you have inserted the needle in always draw back on the plunger first. If you see blood enter the syringe, chances are you hit a vein, withdraw and find another site carrying out the same process. If no blood is seen plunge away slowly.

4. 1 to 1.5 inches all the way... Don***8217;t forget to swab the top of the vial and injection site area prior to injection.

Hope that helps

Injecting into shoulders, quads, and lats use 1" needle. For glutes use a 1.5" needle. As for knowing of you hit a vein or not. After penetration and needle is in your muscle, pull back the plunger on the syringe. If blood comes into the syringe then you hit a vein. If nothing comes in then your good to go. And I wouldn't worry about tiny little bubbles in the gear. I asked a doctor and she said you would have to inject a 1cc bubble directly into the vein to do any damage. Hope this helps!

Believe it or not, youtube has a FANTASTIC selection of videos showing how to self-administer testosterone. After watching a few female-to-male videos, it'll make you feel silly if you're still scared to pin after watching 90lb "women" effortlessly inject.

1) I flick the syringe a few times, but I DO leave about .05cc of air inside to conserve the test as the air pushes the rest of the oil through the needle.

2) This is personal preference with what you're comfortable doing. I have issues pinning my glutes, so I prefer my vastus lateralis (outside quad) and deltoids as sites.

3) It is really difficult to inject oil into a vein. You can nick a vein while entering the muscle, which could lead to coughing and a metallic taste in your mouth. I've only had this happen once, but it wasn't enough to make me fear for my life. In fact, most nurses are no longer taught to aspirate when injecting IM as there are studies showing it is very difficult to get the oil into your bloodstream intravenously. Google will back me up on this. ;)

4) This too depends on the injection site, but for quads and delts a 1" needle will be buried in all the way. Glutes usually require a 1.5" needle that goes in all the way as there is usually more fat covering the muscle.

Hope this helps. :)

AIr bubbles are not a problem at all bro. Dont worry about them. Always everyone is right Youtube has some great vids on injections. My advice would be to watch them.

You will want to stay in the upper/mid to outer section of glute to stead clear of sciatic nerve. The rest sounds good that's my .02

Just goto spotinjections dot com. It shows every muscle group with proper injection technique, etc..

As halfwit mentioned, don't panic if you are pinning and you don't aspirate. In my gluteus, I never aspirate. In the superolateral quadrant of the buttock, it is nearly impossible to hit arteries, veins, or nerves. If you deviate above the iliac crest, or into the gluteus maximus, you could hit the sciatic nerve, but you would have to go moderately close to the inner buttock, and even still, it would be pretty damn deep. So just divide your gluteus into 4 quadrants, and pin the upper outer quadrant.

Quads are different, and you are more likely to nick a vessel, or nerve if you pin them enough. Still nothing to worry about.

Get big buddy.
