Intramuscular Injection Sites. This is to show you sites on the human body to inject into the muscle. Which is Intramuscular Injection. This is used for eductional use only. When you read through this document the best locations where to do a Intramuscular Injection will be revealed to you. But do not take our word for this consult a medical professional.

Ventrogluteal

Ventrogluteal site: Is the most comfortable and safest for IM injections. This site is not close to any major blood vessels or nerves. The landmarks for this site include the greater trochanter, anterior superior iliac spine and iliac crest. With the patient on their side place the palm of your hand on the greater trochanter, the index finger on the anterior superior iliac spine and the middle finger pointing toward the iliac crest.

Deltoid site

Deltoid site: This site is most common for small volumes. To inject into this site you must first locate the acromion process, place a finger on the process and measure 3 fingerbreadths down. The injection is given into the fullest part of the deltoid. View diagram right

Vastus Lateralis

Vastus Lateralis: Is located on the lateral aspect of the thigh, it is the number one site for newborns and infants who have not developed any of the gluteal muscles or the deltoid muscle. Have patient assume a supine position, divide the thigh into thirds. Place one hand next to the head of the trochanter and the other hand just above the patella. The area between your hands is the middle third; this is where the injection is given into the fullest portion of the muscle

Dorsogluteal site

Dorsogluteal site: This site is never used in infants and small children. Because of the proximity to the sciatic nerve it is only used as a last resort in adults. The landmarks for this site are the posterior superior iliac spine and the greater trochanter. An imaginary line is drawn between the two landmarks. Find the center of the line and move one inch above the line.

This is very basic to show you locations.

Did delts the other day and way less pain than glutes. Delts are a beautiful site....and my glutes are just a beautiful sight.

I only do my delts :) I was nervous at first with delts because I always did Quads. Quads too many veins.

Seen my ol' lady in her booty shorts the other day (well I see them every day)...but her veins really, really stood out...they were SOOO f'n veiny!! I was like...damn I would hit SOMETHING pinning there. I'm just doing delts & butt. Delts is a charm. Don't feel nothing. Just a little sore from the gear though.

23g does make more scar tissue, but I push in at least 2-3 mL at a time with delts. But sometimes 1 mL of the 3 mL dosage is B12 or Kynoselen which is the best.

25g takes a while with oil which makes my hands shakey. So can't push for that long. The b12 and Kynoselen helps the push with the oil.

I've heard a lot of people say pinning the ventroglute is the most painless and safest way. Is it hard to pin that area yourself? Seems awkward twisting around and pinning.
