Hi all, not sure if this is the correct forum, but I wanted to introduce myself.
I am 38, 5'8 and 175lbs 19.2 bf%. I started lifting weight and excising in mid 2009. I have always been extremely active being a technical diver since 2005.
Between work, diving and diet I wasn't all that really dedicated to exercise, I was one of those guys went to the gym for an hour, 3 times a week, no log book, routine and just went in and did random exercises, I did it more to get me out of the office for an hour more than anything. Anyways in Jan 2011 I hit 28% bf, my diet sucked I traveled allot for work so it was restaurant food every night. In 2010 I was in transition for work, moving from Canada to Houston. So with all the added stress and delays it didn’t help with the health.
In Feb 2011 I resolved to change and get healthy again. So instead of being like 80% of the new years resolutions and joining a gym in January I waited until Feb 1, 2011.
I started working out religiously 6 days a week. Even if it meant just getting on the treadmill and walking for 30 min. I am an endurance guy, Cardio has never been an issue, I can swim 2 miles against a current without even breathing heavy, dam belly created too much drag though.
My routine was 3 weight days and 3 cardio days, and diet,. I kept a food log and measure everything I put in my mouth. Within 6 weeks I was seeing some nice changes 4 inches off my stomach. Then there was a straight 6 weeks of nothing.
Not a single pound or inch. So I truly wanted to lean out, Cardio it is and hour on the treadmill 5 to 7 miles every day for 6 weeks. Still not a single change. Everyone said it was my diet, so I modified the diet to more protein less carbs less fat. And hired a trainer 3 days a week.
The trainer put me through more weights and a more regimented routine. Sent me to a nutrition guy who got me tightened up on nutrition and supplements, fine tuning. And dexaprine, man I love that stuff, sweat just sitting in a chair. He also helped with diet and added more Fat to it. 6 more weeks of this and not a single change. So off to the doctor.
When I spoke to the doctor, the only thing he could tell me was I was in good health and to reduce carbs, so back to refining the diet. I got my carbs down to 180 net carbs a day and intake was around 2150 cal. 6 more weeks and no change. For diet I wasn’t cheating but once every two weeks I would have some pizza or French fries. But not enough to make a difference. So back to the doctor. This time he told me more cardio, bear in mind I was running 30 miles week on the treadmill at this time, run outside. So outside I went.
Now I thought I was making decent gains I was getting stronger building muscle density but I wasn’t getting leaner or bigger, couldn’t tell the difference in the pics . At this time I was doing the 300 routine HIIT with weights on off days for 6 weeks. In May my bf% was 22% when I hired the trainer. At this point I got really serious and did not fudge on the diet one bit, no beer no fries no pizza for 12weeks, and still no change. I wanted to see where I was at so I booked a fitness test at the local ironman centre. And as of Aug 31 with hydrostatic testing I was still 22%. I went back to the nutrition store and spoke to him I didn’t understand what was wrong, I wasn’t cheating on my diet I was training Hard and had sufficient rest seen a doctor twice. He recommended I see another Doctor and told me to go get blood test.
Sept 16 I got my blood test back and found out my total test was at 393. They put me on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and since then I have made substation gains in the gym e and I am down 3%. This is how I found Oligy there was a point in Aug when I said enough was enough and I started looking into AAS and researching alternative methods.
I just wanted to say you guys are all very knowledgeable and the information here has been tremendous. Thanks.
