Graphic Guy!
Is 810lb leg press good?

Is 810lbs a good leg press for someone of my stats?

I did it last night in the gym and there were a few people my age down in the gym I knew that were really impressed.

No smart ass.

I'm asking for a serious response. Not looking for praise. Just wondering what other guys my age do on leg press.

bloddyroar: you said your 24 5.9 189 and pushed 840.

do you consider that good?
and is that your max or are you doing it for reps?

seems good for your height ,ya got some long legs so ya dont get the advantage of some of these midgets!

i'm 18 and have never worked out my legs befiore (well once or twice when I'm bored) and I leg press 500lbs
So I guess it's pretty good

I'm 18, ~195, and I work out with around 800 for sets of 10 immediately following squats (5x5). I consider that decent, not necessarily good or bad.

How low are you going on leg press that makes a HUGE difference.

Seen guys doing 1500 but only moving the slide 12 or so inches.

I'd like to see all the leg press machines melted down and made into squat racks.

You don't ever wanna lift heavy then. After awhile squats get to be too much. Look at most of the pros. Squats are not a core of their lifting any more just too much weight. Your legs get so strong that other parts (back/torso/ankles) can't handle the constant abuse of heavy squatting regularly. Go watch hard core squatters. They have to use so much tape, supports and topical pain killers it is rediculous.

Besides varying foot position on leg presses is great to focus on parts that you can't do as easily squatting.

Last but not least are for morons. I'd much rather see someone doing leg presses wrong than squats. Leg pressing wrong and you don't get the full advantage of the lift. Squatting wrong and you herniate a disk or worse.

Not arguing to get rid of squats, I love them and will do em till I can't anymore. But legpresses have a definate place in my routine.

Well I handle about 700 raw and I don't have to use any of that shit you listed.

But whatever works for you. I'd still like to see all those machines burned. I'd roast marsh mellows while the embers smoldered.

:)
