Is Low Testosterone Hereditary?

So I am in the process of making an appointment with a genealogist to discuss this question but I figured maybe someone here has wondered or has more information on the topic.

I was diagnosed with secondary hypogonadism at the age of 21, I am now 22 and in the process of dialing in my TRT after several (failed) attempts of a restart of my pituitary. My LH and FSH were low, SHBG was Mid to Low, and Test was obviously very low for my age. Pituitary MRI and Testicular ultrasound came back normal. (No brain or testicular trauma either)

Just wanted to try and get some more information before I go into see a genealogist. Obviously my main concern is later in life if I have a son(s) if they will have to go through all of what I had to deal with as well. My father is diagnosed with Low T currently as well however he is in his 50's but that was his first T test.

Thanks guys

I am curious about this as well. Please update us after you talk with genealogist, or have any other information on this. Thanks

I believe so.
I was a late bloomer, started puberty later then everyone. Always worked out harder then my peers without results. Suspected I had low T. Blood tests confirmed.
My father told me he was also a late bloomer and had low test levels.
A bud on another forum had 3 of his boys put on TRT through puberty to help develop as I believe he had Low T himself and they all turned out normal.

Upside is I'm pretty from naturally lower test levels haha :),

This is a great question! I have seen several people reference being on TRT while in puberty, I was talking with my parents the other day and my mother mentioned this to me. I had completely forgotten it but once she mentioned it I remembered that when I was 12-13 years of age my doctors were concerned because I was so small and so far behind other kids my age. They put me on monthly injections for a year and according to my mother they were "growth hormone injections" to help me grow and catch up with the other kids. It worked because I grew 4 inches that year and started puberty (horrible acne) and started growing body hair. I am willing to bet they were testosterone injections!

I would tend to think it isn't. I am certainly not a geneticist, but if this trait was inherited it would have worked itself out of the gene pool over the thousands of years that humans have been around. People with low testosterone would presumably have a lower chance of procreating and passing along their genes.

Will do, with the holidays and everything coming up I might not get a chance to talk to a genealogist till the new year - however from talking to my endo he gave me a semi confirmation that it is - and after talking to my GP he said that a genealogist can run a DNA test to for more info (obviously that's why I want to see one in the first place though haha)

I'm certainly not either, but to me it seems like it could be a recessive trait that can be carried through generations - people with low test levels could still have offspring (using my case as an reference, although all my levels were low my semen were still viable) and thus I could pass the recessive gene on to be carried by the next generation. However that is just using my super basic knowledge of biology, I'm sure there are greater forces at work haha

No way. When my test was low I was so aggressive and emotionally fucked up.
I would conquer other tribes and reproduce with their women with my 5k sperm count.
