Is the Prowler Worth it?

I just started DeFranco's Westside for Skinny Bastards, and one of the things he's really high on is the prowler. But I'm still not sold on it, and I really don't see it worth the price of admission (vs. a sled). Anyone used one before, or knows someone who has? Opinions?

Its a push where as the sled is a pull.

It appears to be a great piece of equipment but what are your goals?
It will yield results but the question is is it cost effective for you personally?

Do you have access to a sled already?

you can do a lot with a sled too. I haven't gotten around to buying a prowler yet, but it is on the list of things to buy :) On Ebay someone is selling a hybrid prowler/sled for like 130 bucks including shipping.

NTLQ you do a lot of sled pulling, and if my memory serves me correct you've been cutting down for quite some time now no? has the sled been a big help with that?

I hear they are great. guess it really all depends upon goals. All-in-all, it's just another piece of equipment to add to the mix. Personally, I just drag weights, tied to a truck strap, around the back yard or at the gym where there is a long stretch of runway.

I've used it for speed training but I'm sure it helped with the cutting as well.

Ive used it to condition and "keep body fat at bay" yes it is an amazing tool for all of that.

Well, my goal is just to get more athletic (trying to get back to the athleticism I had in my late high school/early college) and less bulky; basically more flexibility. I don't have a sled yet, but living across the Pacific, shipping makes a $250 prowler, $500. Whereas, I can get a sled at one of the local sports stores around here I'm sure for cheaper. I think it's a great piece of equipment, but just not sure it has THAT many advantages over a sled. Technically, slight modification to a sled and you could push it like a prowler right?
