everyone who has lifted for an extensive period of time has found what makes their bodies grow. like many i have found low weight hig reps are great for growth. but how many sets? i have found myself that low weight, high reps, many sets is key for me. but is it overtraining? here is my last chest workout--let me know what you guys think. ( i do this sort of thing for all of my bodyparts)

flat bench---->then incline---->incline hammer------>crossovers
135x10 225x8 strength 80x10
225x10 225x6 180x6 80x10
315x6 245x4 200x6 70x8
315x6 245x4 200x6 70x6
335x5 305x2 200x6 70x5
335x5 225x5 200x6
365x4 (i really focus on
365x4 the squeeze on
405x1 these)
335x4
335x2
315x3

ok that was my last chest routine. i usually add one more thing in there, but i must have been tired. all of my workouts consist of no less than 5 sets, but the big ones i do around 10 (ie flat bench, squat, military press, deads)

is this overtraining? i have no problems physically w my regimen, but i'd like your guys input .. thanks

i had that whole thing nice and neat, but when i sent it , it got all jumbled. they were all in columns, just read down---oh shit you guys will figure it out

if its working dont change it. you really not doing high reps though. you doin a lot of warm ups then just a few low rep worsets. 405x1 is a low rep work set lolo0lol you prolly got more out of that the 1 rep than you did the resy put together. you basically did 8 warm ups, which is not uncomon, and 1 work set with a few step down sets to finish off.

same on you incline. several warm ups then 1 workset of 2 reps with a couple step down sets.

i dont count warm up sets as work sets. i nortmally do 1 or 2 work sets per execise which is what you have here. looks good as long as you making progress. you should be adding weight to the bar a couple times per month. 5lbs or so. if not then you may be slightly overtrained.

If it was overtraining you'd know it. You would feel very weak in the gym, and always tired. Overtraining is not something that happens without you knowing it.

i dont know, i always counted the 135 and 225 as the only warm ups. maybe i am wrong. maybe i should just do the 3-4 set thing and do like 365, 375, 385 as my work sets and not take so long to build up to it.

lately i haven't been making great progress, which is why i am asking this question.

after a point progress comes in small incrememnts. as long as you making progress you making progress. you can alway play with rep/set range and see if it gives a new growth level. or change up exercises. one week do dips insted of flat bench and the next falt bench. one week do db flat insted of incline bb. alterante them and this wil help keep you fresh. i constantly make changes if needed.

nice numbers BTW.
