How important is the arch in bench press?

The way I do it is to raise my legs and leave my back completely flat against the bench. So that means I don't arch my back and right now I'm doing 275lbs 4 reps 2 sets. If I arch my back, will I get more leverage?

Yes, I always put my legs on the bench or in the air like when doing abdominal excercices. It feel more comfy for me and it has not been an issue with the amount of weight i can handdle. I'm 5'11 206lbs and if I wasn't hurt on monday I think I can bench 285 by the end of next week.

bro, stop doing that and kept them wheels down. you will have more tight position in that...and it allows you to plant your shoulders/upper back on the bench a lot more.

your supposed to keep your feet on the ground at all times. your back has a natural arch to it no matter what positioning your in, and that arch u see when you bench is naturally occuring when you push really hard. its kinda like a reflex i think

If you don't have an arch, you aren't using proper form. If you aren't using proper form, that could be related to why you got injured. Remember, the bench doesn't just work your pecs, and also you do need those muscles in your back for stabilization.
