I posted this is a different thread, but here is my experiment from yesterday:
I just tried this with var and 151 - here my experience:
Put 1g Var from Canada into 29ml of 151.
Step 1 - Boiled water, took pot of burner, put solution in water for 10 mins.
Took out after 10mins, used metal rod to swirl solution and smashed a few small clumps up. Waited till' it cooled/crashed (about 20-40 mins) and repaeted step 1.
The solution crashed again once it cooled down.
So I seperated the solution into 2 bottles (15 ml each of org. solution). Added another 15ml of 151 to each container. Added .1 g of Var to each. Repeated step 1.
Results:
30mg/ml - crashed after both cool down periods
20mg/ml - semi-crashed after 1st boil ===>
Clear after 2nd boil but semi-crashed at about 65 degrees F will go clear under heat. Seems to stay in solution if you can keep it above 75-80 degrees, but I live at the beach in San Diego and my house never gets hotter than about 70 indoors and being that it's winter it is around 60-69 depending on time of day etc...
I contacted one of the liquid guys who sells it and he said use Everclear it will hold up to around 20mg/ml maybe 25, but I need to go to Mexico and pick up a bottle of grain ETOH/Everclear because they don't sell it in CA
