Kratom questions and concerns, this stuff could mess you up(if not used properly)

I used kratom the Maeng Da to be specific for the first time last night, I took 2g before the gym with some bull nox..... I'm amazed by it at the moment. For me it felt like a very low dose of an adhd med mixed with an anti-anxiety med, or just a very low dose of molly by itself perhaps, I had an incredible work out; I want to continue using.

I've had anxiety/ocd and depression issues my whole life although it was the worst in my teen years. I don't want to get too in depth here on myself, but anxiety/depression(and lack of willpower I suppose) lead me to become addicted to benzos when I was a young man. After getting a dui on xanax years ago I have stayed away from benzos.

Since kratom binds to the same receptors as opiates one would have the same type of withdrawal symptoms as coming off opiates, with heavy use of kratom.

I feel this forum needs to have a sticky on how to safely use kratom if it is going to be sponsoring a kratom vendor. This could potentially fuck people up(myself included) if not used correctly.

I would really appreciate someone to chime in here, let's talk about how to safely use kratom and avoid the negatives.

How much is too much at once, or in one day? How many consecutive days is too much, before one would experience withdrawal symptoms if they did not use for a day?

Thanks gentlemen, don't think I am trying to create controversy, or put out a negative image of kratom.

If these things have been talked about elsewhere please provide links.

Great points......................I totally agree that guys need to use our products safely............we always advocate responsible usage, so thank you for starting this thread..................................We have been on other boards for upwards of 6 months and have lots of testimonials of guys who used kratom every day for months, and then discontinued use for weeks at a time,,,,,with no more withdrawals then they got from caffine......actually the caffine was worse in their words...............heres an article on that exact topic.

DAVID DISALVO
Results of My Kratom Experiment

This post is a follow-up to an article I wrote on Forbes entitled, The Kratom Experiment Begins.

First, I should explain why I am publishing this piece here instead of Forbes. When I wrote the original piece, I mentioned that I would be using Lucky Kratom brand capsules for the evaluation. This set off a cascade of comments and emails telling me that I was making a mistake limiting myself to that brand, for a variety of reasons.

At the same time, several Kratom distributors contacted me offering free samples to use during my evaluation. I decided to accept samples from three of these companies:

Mayan Kratom

Nutmeg Kratom

Online Kratom

Because I accepted these free samples, I felt it was no longer ethical to write the follow-up article on Forbes -- a venue for which I am paid to write. Instead I chose to move the follow-up here, to The Daily Brain, a blog I own and derive exactly zero compensation from.

I am grateful to each of the companies that supplied samples, because they enabled me to conduct a much more thorough evaluation than would have been possible with only one brand (Lucky Kratom ***8211; a product I paid for myself, I should add).

Having said that, I will not be comparing products from different companies in this post. That was never my intention. Rather, I will simply provide you with my personal experience with the products in general.

The two forms of Kratom I experimented with were powder and capsules. I also experimented with a variety of strains and ***8220;fusions***8221; of different strains and extracts. Generally speaking, I took Kratom in the morning, usually mixed with a small amount of orange juice.

I did not experience a tremendous difference between strains, although the fusions that contained extracts were consistently more potent. Because the extracts lead to quicker tolerance, I spaced out my usage and tried to stick to regular strains most of the time. I especially liked Bali, Maeng Da and Green Thai.

Now for the effects.

My overall takeaway is that Kratom has a two-tiered effect. Initially it provides a burst of energy very similar to a strong cup of coffee. Unlike coffee, however, the energy I derived from Kratom was longer-lasting and level. My experience with coffee is that the initial burst is strong but it tapers and descends rapidly, leading to the well-known caffeine crash. The energy from Kratom, on the other hand, would often last for three or four hours, but was subtle enough that at no point did I feel like I was jumping out of my skin. I also did not experience an energy crash with any of the Kratom products I sampled.

The second-tier effect was relaxing, but fell short of being sedating. I never felt sleepy while taking Kratom, but I did experience a level relaxation that was pleasant, and balanced out the initial energy-boosting effects nicely.

As to side effects, I can***8217;t say that I experienced any worth noting. A few times I noticed that my eyes were bloodshot after I used a fusion containing an extract, but that was not a consistent side effect and it never obscured my vision, nor did it seem related to any other drawbacks.

As to the difference between capsules and powder, I noticed that the powder worked faster, but the capsules seemed to be generally as effective, though with somewhat delayed effects. That makes perfect sense since it takes the stomach a bit longer to break down the gelatin containing the powder.

My biggest concern with most of the products I sampled is that it***8217;s not easy to nail down the specific amount to take. I used ***8220;bakers spoons***8221; that indicated how many grams a spoonful contained, but I***8217;d strongly recommend anyone who wants to take the product long-term to invest in a decent-quality digital kitchen scale. I am indebted to several people who have sold Kratom for years for offering free advice on how to arrive at the correct amount for my body type (I'm six feet, 225 lbs with an athletic build).

In my case, about three grams was adequate to induce an effect, but I have been told by several regular Kratom users that amounts vary greatly by person. I can***8217;t make any recommendations on the ***8220;right***8221; amount to use. I simply experimented with amounts (guided by the advice I mentioned) until I found one that worked well for me.

My overall comment on Kratom is that it***8217;s a lot like good coffee, but with a more even, long-lasting energy effect, and a much more pleasant ***8220;finish.***8221;

As to the results of stopping usage, I can tell you without hyperbole that getting off coffee is a far worse experience than getting off Kratom. I was able to stop taking Kratom for three days and at most I experienced a bit of sluggishness that wore off in a day or so. Withdrawal from coffee, for me, includes at minimum two days of excruciating headaches that make me want to rip trees from the ground and toss them through store windows (something I've never actually done, mind you). Suffice to say, caffeine withdrawal is significantly worse than Kratom withdrawal, if it can even be called "withdrawal." There's no comparison whatsoever.

Having now experienced the product myself for a number of weeks, I can see no reason why it should be banned, or on what basis such a product would be banned if people can walk into a typical coffee shop and buy an enormous cup of an addictive substance that***8217;s arguably more potent than any Kratom available anywhere.

We have a lot of customers who are trying to quit opiates and say it works wonders!!!

Just like you(somehow), my friend got addicted with some supplement for a year. I think he misused it or something like that. His life was messed up so I'm helping him out in his recovery. I'm planning to get him to rehab. I don't have much idea about rehab so I've been seeking for some info on some sites like Drug Rehabilitation Center Modesto and hopefully I could find some, (but if anyone could tell me things that I should know pls let me know.)
New alias has a point, kratom should be used safely so people should know how to use/take it properly. Stickies would be helpful.

I think responsible use time where there will not be any withdrawn issues would be to only use kratom 3 times a week. With this schedule you would never need a very high dose because you will not build a tolerance. For anyone who has used kratom everyday in high doses for many months it isn't hard to take a break. During the break the following herbs combined will make it so you feel energized, no anxiety, and no withdrawals. One week off kratom is plenty after a long stretch. Combine the herbs ashwagandha, rhodiola rosea, and bacopa. These 3 herbs have so many health benefits and each has been used in medical studies to reduce opiate dependence and come off opiates with minimal withdrawals. There are studies on pubmed.com proving the benefits of these 3 herbs while coming off opiate dependence.

strongly agree. or if you have to take kratom, play it safe. take it as occasional threat. Just like John said, use it only thrice a week, or once is enough.

I did not have much withdrawal. I felt far from great the first two weeks, but it was mostly mentally addictive. When I was addicted to benzos like you and stopped that on the other hand, I was basicly lying on the floor for 3 months puking and shitting myself and had horrible hallusinations worse then 6 hits of acid, was on the hospital two times with seizures and it took me 13 months for the withdrawal symptoms to completely dissapear. So be carefull with benzos guys. It's worse to come of than heroin if you use enough for long enough time.

Have fun with your kratom. It works wonders for withdrawal on other drugs as you all probably know. I just wish I knew it sooner
