Labral Tear (shoulder) training advice

I've torn my labrum before as well, its really shitty. Your doctor is right though stay away from heavy lifting and training of that sorts. The less aggravation you put on that labrum now will impact your long term recovery. Believe me, I played football for 2 years with a torn labrum, neglecting the fact it could be seriously hurt and it was. I have a good amount of instability still even after surgery from a top doctor because of my negligence. Go very light and always do controlled workouts, like cables or smith machines. The only time i recommend using a dumbbell is if your doing the cuff exercise when lie on your side, lock your elbow to your hip and lift a 5 or 10lb weight. Just be careful man I know its hard to swallow the truth with injuries but they happen and you just gotta take the ride. Avoid stretching that cuff more at all costs you've got the rest of your life to get back into traing just focus on getting well. If you need some workouts for your cuffs lmk. Hope this helps.

I train 100% on my torn labrum cause i'm a moron

Cuff warm-ups every single day, light shoulder warm-ups every single day i don't care if it's leg day my shoulder's get warmed up.

Hurts a lot less since doing that, only exercise i avoid is strict standing military press, cleans, front squats etc...i still do every thing else including dead lifts, dumb bell military, smith machine press, bench press whatever. I haven't got a new MRI in a while basically because i'm scared to see how much worse i have made it.

I tore my labrum and made the mistake of continuing lifting and skiing. Went from a 20% tear to 40% in 6 months. Had 4 anchors put in it and then attacked the rehab like crazy and its great now. If you start having instability and shoulder dislocations get it fixed ASAP, your rehab will be much quicker. i ALWAYS do some theraband work before doing any heavy lifting as it tightens up much more than it did before the injury. Also, focus on rotator cuff work as it will help to stabilize the joint as well. Good luck.
