lats

I think my lats are behind every other muscle I have.

I also feel like I don't have a lot of coordination with them. I don't feel like they are used much. When I try to do lat exercises I end out feeling more pain in other muscles then I do in the lats. I don't feel like I have good control over them. I can rarely get them pumped from training.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

I am curious if I should do tons of reps with lighter weight with multiple lat excercises just to practice and try to get them 'used.' i think in my regular life they are useless and are just kind of hibernated.

What movements are you doing?

I believe in rows as a staple, I do some pulldowns on bench day but by far rowing movements are "it" for me.

I do deads on leg day, not really for lats of course.

Bent over rows and T-Bar rows helped me out. I still don't get the two day burn in my lats but their growing like weeds. I found alot of row movements are key, but make sure you squeeze your back completely. I watch to many people pull the weight to their abs/chest, but it's all arms for the last half of the rep. FORM! Also, if you do t-bar rows, try it with 25's instead of 45's, you can tuck them in super tight and get an incredible squeeze.

seated cable rows I find my hands start to give out before my lats really give out.

but I try that and cable pull downs. mostly.

Ive tried bent over rows but I can really not feel much back involvement, no matter how much I try to use nothing but the lat to pull the weight up.

I have had that issue and once I dropped the cable rows and lat pulldowns and increased my pull ups and bent row (and reduced BF%).. wham! ..there they were! :)

Try close grip or wide grip pulldowns and squeeze your back also switch up your back exercises and see what you feel the most then do that first in your workout.

Yep I like close grip pulldowns with hands facing sometimes (using a seated pulley bar).

There are many exercises there for the back but not all of them will work as well as they do for others. Some machines will hit the back better than others, even though the movement may seem the same, the little differences in the range and angle make a big difference.

I don't know how much weight you're using, but don't do too much, or you'll be involving a lot of other muscles besides your back. Try cables at various angles, they have cable machines that work independently of each other. If you don't feel a pump or burn, try your own suggestion and do lighter weight and more reps.
