Lift how heavy when on?

I'm on my second cycle now. Stats: 26 5'11 213lbs not sure on bf, maybe 14% now. taking 500mg test-e/week, 500mg eq/week.

Here is my problem, of course i'm trying to get bigger so I'm lifting as heavy as I can. I'm constantly getting pain in my forearms along the bone on the back of my arm. I've tried msm for several weeks and the gas and runs never went away (neither did the pain subside) so i discontinued that. I'll take ibuprofen, but still the pain comes and can mess up any upper body workout. I also took a week off a few weeks ago but it came back shortly after starting again.

I noticed another pain the other day doing decline presses in the tendons near my armpits...maybe i hadn't done enough of this move lately.

So here's the question, two. One, any advice on how to alleviate the pain is appreciated.
Two: I know people say "don't go too heavy when on cycle" because of high ego or whatever. But if I want to get bigger, don't i need to lift as heavy as I can while using proper form? What's the balance here? Will I grow if I lift less weight than I can?

Also on growth, this cycle and the last I got stuck at 212/213 lbs. I'm eating over 4500 kcals a day, which should be enough to grow, right?

IMO you won't grow unless you lift heavy. I do a variety of routines. Sometimes I'll go awhile doing 5x5 or variations thereof. On bench now I do this routine by Dave Tate, where one day is a dynamic effort day where I start with speed benching and the other bench day is a maximum effort day where I work up to a 1rm on various benching exercises. I don't think you need to worry about the weight you do on cycle, but the volume of training you do. You can still overtrain on cycle.

How much msm were you taking bro? I had a similar problem a while back so I started taking a joint supplement that was a blend of a few different supps (msm, gelatin, chondroitin). After a couple of weeks of taking that and going lighter the pain went away. Now I'm back to lifting heavy with no pain. You do need to lift heavy, just don't increase the weight too quickly or your tendons will not be able to keep up.

thanks for the comments...you're supporting what i thought, that I gotta go heavy.

on the msm, i think i was taking 4-6 pills/day, don't recall the mg. it was what i read to be recommended dose.

so any other thoughts on how to get rid of the pain?

I would Ice it after those heavy upper body workouts, maybe 3-4 times a week. That seems to help my shoulders.

thanks JT, hadn't even thought of icing it. i'll try that.

also doing wrist curls again, after years of not doing them, maybe those will help out some.

You know I have struggled with what I think is your problem for years now. Mine is tendonitis. It seems to have improved quite a bit after a couple of cycles that included deca. Also I use ice after working out, and when I am going to do an exercise that I know will bother the area,,,,,I take about 5 ibuprofins about an hour before working out. The only thing that will really help heal it is rest,,,,,,but who wants to do that.

are you doing barbell curls? i used to get the same pain when i used to do direct bicep work. i ditched all bicep work and my arms are still growing just from the amount of heavy back work i do. also try the ice. alot of times on cycle, your muscles gain strength so quickly, the ligaments and tendons have a hard time supporting the weight your lifting. hence the aches and pains.

thanks everyone for the additional input.

Slayer, yeah i think my problem is some sort of tendonitis, i've been taking 2 ibupro's before workout, maybe i'll up it to 3 and try the ice.

I have decided I'll use deca on my next cycle, wish i had this time, so maybe that will end up helping too.

blackjack, yup biceps work definitely brings out the pain so I've eased up a bit on that and am trying to go super heavy on back to make up for it.

my current onset of this I think was actually brought on by db military press. i think the db weight hit or rested on my forearm 2 inches above the wrist, gave me a bruise and that area is where it hurts. today i'll try the barbell press instead. hoping wrist curls may also strengthen the area so i might control the weight better too.

try glucosime, chonjortine(bad spelling) but it takes about 2-3 months for it to really also try 1 aleve every 12 hours
