I really want to educate myself on dieting. I can't diet for the life of me. Don't know whats good or bad besides the obvious. Should I be buying books and if so, which would you say is a great book?

Best thing to do mate is look through these pages Im sure they'll have a lot of answers to the questions your looking for and some that you wernt.

determining which foods to eat is beyond easy. the less ingredients a food has, generally the better it is for you. oatmeal is better for you in terms of nutrition and (for the sake of comparison) body composition than fruit loops, chicken is better than hot dogs, peanut butter is better than ice cream.

the hard(er) part is determining what amounts to eat.

a general guide for determining maintenence calories (an amount that will allow you to maintain your weight, ie. not gain or lose weight) is to take your lean bodyweight and multiply it times 15. To gain weight, eat more than that. To lose weight, eat less than that.

Very simplified, but gets the general idea across.

Yep.. a great book I found that incorporates all the BB techniques with sound advice is the South Beach Diet book. I've read it and tried and highly recommend it bro. It's great for those who don't have the diet knowledge and need a map.

Why not? Daily diet is very important for us, so it's necessary to get a right way. Recently I just got a book - The New Optimum Nutrition Bible.

I think it's great for anyone that don't have the diet knowledge.
