lose fat w/out cardio?

lets say u diet good and work out 4xs a week with wieghts and eat 500 under bmr--can u lose fat without cardio?
 
Just out of curiosity I wore my heart monitor during one of my workouts and my heart rate stayed above 135 the entire time - even without running or other forms of cardio, your heart is still getting a workout.

diet is EVERYTHING.. even if you just reduce cal's and maintain your activity levels, without increasing anything, you will lose weight. it's all about caloric expenditure vs intake... good luck!

I have seen people cut up simply by lifting weights daily and not doing cardio, so like they all said, it's mostly your diet...
 
Working out and having a calorie-deficient diet will certainly enable you to lose weight, the trick for you will be to minimize the muscle loss and maximize the fat loss.
 
There are some people who go through 90% of their contest prep without touching cardio.

Myself, I like food too much. I would need to supplement a little more cardio to offset the amount of food I eat.

Cardio is also great for giving your metabolism a boost.
 
you need to burn an extra 3500 kcals to burn 1lb.of fat.you do that anyway you can and you will lose.but why cut out a good meal when all you got to do is run a little?

Same here. Plus, with all the weight I have put on last year, doing a bit of cardio keeps the heart strong...
 
Eat clean.
Or u can always go w/a high protein low carb diet just to cut up some. Myself i HATE cardio, so if i wanna cut up I just watch waht i eat more carefully.
Its mainly your diet bro.
 
two summers ago i went from 275-280, don't remember how heavy exactly to a low of 232 without an ounce of cardio. It was the best i ever looked. I know at least one pro bodybuilder who competed for years at a high level without doing any cardio as well.
 
cardio at low to moderate levels of intensity will allow you to take in more food therefore not slowing down your metabolism while dieting. when you lower cals your metabolism will slow down to acclimate to the lack of food. the key to muscle retention while dieting is keeping your metabolic rate high.

stay away from running though--that will strip muscle mass like no other.

I understand that. I'm finding that if I give in to my cravings, I make good muscle gains, but it comes with some fat. But if I eat enough calories for maintenance, even with 300-400grams of protein/day, my gains really suffer.

This past labor day weekend I went road biking with my wife a couple of times. She kicked my ass. But I'm really hoping to do more cardio and improve.

I'm hoping that with additional cardio, I can perhaps take in more calories and get better gains without much fat gain. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

And my cholesterol is in the shitter and I know that, for me at least, cardio really helps it, so I need to do cardio anyway.

me too
i tend to stall out and need the cardio

i went from a fat ass down to 210 but i did not go overboard on the cardio i onbly increased it when i failed to drop any weight for 2 weeks in a row..
and even then i would only add 5 minutes or just change up the pace..

i now do cardio so that the squat suit will still fit and i dont have to go out and blow another 300 on a new suit
