Low T and my doc is clueless.

I think the title says it all.

I've worked out for 15 years and for the last 10 years I've had trouble gaining and lose it easily. Escpecially the last few years I've been very tired all the time and at 35 it sucks.

So around the first of this month I went to my doc and go her to run bloodwork. Well finally after many left messages with no return calls I finally get an answer my free test was 69 in a window of 45-245. I'm not sure what unit of measure they used but I've been diagnosed to have low T.

The good news is I know whats wrong. The bad news is she tried to prescribe me 1 shot per month of 200mg test. After explaining to the nurse that was a horrible idea because of it peaking within a few days and being gone in 10-14. I asked for weeky injections and it was like talking to a brick wall. The nurse didn't care that I had done research and know others on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), that's what the Dr. ordered...take it or leave it. So I told her nevermind, thats not even close to a proper thearapy regimine and I'm not putting my body through that and hung up. I'm sure I'd get nowhere with the discussion of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and Aromatase inhibitor (AI) as well.

Does anyone know what unit of measure they used for my free test and also are there any good online docs that know more than a newb whos only searched a few forums?

Thanks for any help.

Dude you need to get a full blood panel, testing one item one time doesn't mean crap all or much anyway.

Go to privet md online and order the male hormone panel. Add shbg, dhea to it. Go to a lab Corp early am after a full nights rest and fasting for 12 hrs and get the test done.

Hope this help. Then post up results here and/or send that to chip (sponsor at top of page).

They tested more than that(thyroid, cholesterol etc.) but that was all that was out of wack. That doesn't mean they tested everything the test you're recommending test. Thanks for the info. I'm using my insurance for all of this so i'll need a Dr. To order the labs. I'm assumming Chip is a Dr. Right. I'll check into it thanks.

Chip is an Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) consultant / clinic owner. He has Drs he uses but he's not a dr. Doesn't take insurance.

If you can't afford or don't want to pay out of pocket your best bet is to look for another local dr or endro.

Did they test estrogen? Total test? Post all the labs and the ranges on the sheet.

I'll have to wait until I go back to work Tuesday and have my recently fired Dr. Fax the labs to me. I'm not sure if they tested estrogen. Next week I'm going to try and find an endocrynogists so maybe i'll have better luck.

One more question about chip, I don't mind out of pocket for consults or even labs but can I get the meds chip's drs. Prescribe at my local CVS using my insurance?

No you can't

HRT clinics are worth the expense if you can afford it. They actually know what they are doing.

You need to follow the link and read stickys..Your meds are compounded at a Pharmacy, and quickly shipped to you. Maximus Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) does not take insurance. He is not out to get you, Think of ONE aspect as, It is just when dealing with insurance , It is the insurance company that has FINAL word on treatment, Thus preventing PROPER treatment. IT IS CHEAP. I receive optimal treatment, and it is less than My cellphone bill monthly, and I do not have all that fancy shit!

Cdy2179, take some time and read threw the various posts. If you plan on using your insurance for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) all I can say is good luck finding proper treatment. Not to say you can't find someone out there but the odds are against you, from my own experience and dozens on this forum will tell you.

I signed up with Maximus after wasting months with jackass dr. and anti aging clinics.
I also have great insurance but my health out weighed the piss poor care I was getting therw insurance. Once you do the math with Maximus priced you'll see it's extremely affordable and they are top notch! Most of you first order will cover you for 3-5months!!

I don't think I have enough posts to pm anyone (tried but they won't send) yet so I can't ask this via pm but I'm wondering just what you guys consider cheap. I could see spending 50 a month, but any more id have a hard time being ok with being I have insurance.

Just a couple of random thoughts here.

First off, I am a Maximus client and it is worth noting that most Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Specialists/Clinics do not take insurance. I consulted with several before joining Maximus. If you think your GP is behind the times on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), the insurance companies are far worse, which comes as no surprise as their primary goal is NOT paying benefits.

As far as the cost, after having low T and then being successfully treated for low T through Maximus, I'm pretty sure I would rob a bank if I had to to maintain my treatment protocol. I should also add it is a helluva lot cheaper than you probably think it is.

Just my .02

It would be more then $50 a month, I spend a heck of a lot more (but I'm on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) not just TRT) but worth it IMO.

I guess I'll give them a call next week when i get my labs in hand. It really depends on cost for me. Heck I pay enough for insurance as it is.

analyze your life or bills. Do you eat out frequently? Even twice per month can add up. Do you really need all those stations on TV? Does your cellphone have all that expensive usually useless shit? Do you have a home phone and cell phone? You don't need both. Are you really that cold that you have to blast the heat 24/7? How about that insurance? You say you pay a lot for it, you are not getting shit out of it, Can you cut your plan somehow? Can you downgrade your internet? Do you have a child you can sale to help the army of allah to concur the universe?

You may have to make sacrifices, but he who makes sacrifice, has life,.. or something like that.

Most of us on here have insurance, few even have multiple coverage. Your best option to find a doctor is to call compounding pharmacies in your area and ask for a referral based on said protocol.

If I had to choose between TRT/HRT and my Hemi truck I'd choose the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) hands down.

nobody's got a gun to your head, brother. You need therapy. Our therapy is not covered by insurance. Sometimes you have to pay out of pocket to invest in the best and in yourself. If you decide to roll our way, i'll be here. Thx. Best of luck either way.
