Low testosterone at very young age..

Allright.. I just came from the doctor. I am little bit surprised. My overall feeling is still about the same. BUT:

My total testosterone has suddenly doubled from the last test?? It is now 24 nmo/l, when last time it was 11 nmo/l. So my total testosterone is now considered as normal: in ng/dl it went from 330 to 690 by doing nothing?

LH has stayed about the same, 4.6. Cortisol was in the upper range. 564 nmo/l, the range being about 150-650.

SHBG has went down 3 points, its now 32 nmo/l. I am just wondering, is it normal that all these other levels are about the same, but testosterone has nearly suddenly doubled. My feeling ain't really better. Still hard to get/keep erections, low libido, confidence, brainfog etc.

Then I am asking about my thyroid levels. Free T4 has increased nearly 4 points. It is the upper range, but still considered normal. Now it was 20 pmol/l, upper reference range being 19-21. TSH was now 2.2 mU/l. Could this indicate to hyperthyroidism?

What do you guys say about my bloodwork? All help is appreciated.

690 is a great number for natty TT. And that is a good TSH level. Not hypo or hyper.

Are you sure you have not made any lifestyle changes?

Yes, I am totally sure. Except from keep taking the vitamins and some zinc. Thats why I was little bit surprised. My symptoms aren't gone. So thats why I am little bit confused currently. :tounge2:

I see my free T4 and T3 are both in the upper range, little bit over the range maybe too, depending on the lab ranges.

Why haven't you gotten a sleep study done yet?
Zinc dosing does work. That's quite the jump from 11 nmol/l to 24 nmol/l.

I will ask for the sleep study, yeah.

Should I still ask for 3rd bloodwork sometime later for testosterone? I don't know if it has anything to do, I felt somehow normal for a few days, during the time my bloodwork was taken, but before that and shortly after I started feeling the same shitty feeling that I had. Doctor gave me marketing speech about depression and that I should start taking SSRI medication. His opinion was that this is all just mental, because my bloodwork was fine now. It was taken now in my local lab. I really look like that I have never had high T levels, I especially hate my high voice, when every other family men has deep voices and many signs of high testosterone. I mentioned about the libido issues, brainfog, memory problems etc. He told me that those are all symptoms of depression and that he warmly recommends medication. What the hell should I do?

NoCanDo - Its funny because I was in the same situation. When I was in my younger 20's, everytime I went to take a Testosterone Lab, I would wake up that morning and feel GREAT. Then it would come back in the 600's, and the next day I would go back to feeling like crap again. Swear to god.

You know how you take your car to the mechanic then it wants to work just fine? Same luck.

I would keep trying, or what you could do... is on the days that you feel like you usually do, use a private lab test and take that to your doc.

Trust me, if you think something is wrong with your T, there is. I always knew I had low T, and high estrogen. I just KNEW it, deep down in the deepest darkest corner of my very being. I knew there was always something wrong with me.

Turns out my testicles don't work. But when I went to see a doc to do the tests I "luckily" read in the normal range on that day, just long enough to suffer quite a few more years.

I would stay away from everyday use/long-term use of 5HTP... Use it as a once off mood booster here and there if you have to.

Hey, thanks for the replies. As seen, I have been away for awhile. No big updates until recently. About the sleep apnea, tried to get the sleep study done but my local healthcare center aren't that easy to work with. They first order xray to check lungs and PEFR study + basic bloodwork. After meeting with the results, I can probably ask about the study.

Altough, I have now come to the concerns that I might suffer from adrenal fatigue. 2 months ago my cortisol was on the upper range, was taken little bit later than 7-8am, so I believe it would been over the range if taken earlier. Well now the doctor I have been working with ordered to check FT3 and RT3. The ratio was measured and it was 12. I read that normally it should be over 20. The ratio is low, probably due to the stress I have. Came to the conclusion, I had some stressful events 1-2 years ago in my life, which might have lead to some kind of reaction. Well now my hormones are somewhat in imbalance. Symptoms exists, little variation about how I feel on different days, but mostly I know that everything isn't as it should be. If fixing the thyroid issues doesn't fix the problem itself, might need to get some hydrocortisone also to support adrenals. But I am most concerned (still) about my testosterone levels. Not been checking them since the last time, when they were normal.. But soon after that I got the same old symptoms and shitty feelings. So I might (probably will) order new bloodtests to check free and total T. Do you think this is a issue that will need to be fixed too (if low) or does it fix when other issues are fixed?

Also took a mineral examination from hair. Showed calcium and magnesium clearly low. Supplementing those, also taking 100mg of D3-Vitamin, C-Vitamin, then some adrenal support complex, B-Vitamin complex.

Addressing thyroid and andrenal issues can definitely improve your testosterone levels. It is worth exploring.

The two main things that affect testosterone are genetics and environment. Some guys need to understand that not everyone is born to have high testosterone. It's just nature. You have two choices, optimize your natural testosterone with lifestyle changes and diet. Drop the shit food and excessive alcohol intake. Get 6-9 hours of good sleep consistently. Ensure you have optimal vitamin D levels, no deficiency in zinc, calcium or magnesium. Lift heavy weights and eat enough calories to not be in a large deficit which down regulates leptin, thyroid and sex hormones. All of this combined can literally raise your testosterone levels by the hundreds. Each of these factors can drop or raise testosterone by a lot of points.

Agree with megatron, hypothyroid goes hand in hand with hypogonadism. Low thyroid activity decreases the conversion of cholesterol into androgenic hormones. This can cause both elevated cholesterol levels and decrease androgens. There is always a reason for low testosterone. Be it genetics, lifestyle, diet or disease.

Little bit update again. I found out that my Reverse T3 ratio is shitty about 3 months ago. 100% due to chronic stress I had. I think fixing that issue with supplementing and T3 has helped quite a bit. I still suffer from minimal libido, brainfog, lack of self confidence, time-to-time anxiety, especially during social situations. I wan't to do things but I got no motivation and I am fatigued. I am still leaning towards testosterone issue, which I will find out soon, went to take new bloodtest today to find out my test and free test. I found a doctor who was willing to look into the T problem and possibly offer a trial period of TRT I know that I am young, but I really am wasting the best years of my life with this shitty feeling and lack of spirit. I have no idea how it feels to have rock hard libido and high levels of energy, like young males usually should have. It also seems like my puberty never has finished, my voice has remained on the higher side and doesn't really sound mature. Also my facial hair and masculine looks are lacking. But the mental issues I hate the most. I don't know wether I always have been low or is it from my abusive lifestyle on my body, which I never maybe recovered fully.

My doc said if the T comes back low, we could start a trial. I know this isn't something to take lightly, but if my T levels come back low I would be willing to try..

I am not saying that I would start TRT even if my levels came back low, but I would like to hear some opinions and toughts. I just said that option for treatment remains.

Also I am having a sleep study next month (finally).
