Meeting doc next week to start my trt shots.

Hi folks,
I'm set up to start TRT next Friday. My doc was receptive to my low testosterone and I said out right that I want to have injections so will start next week. I have no idea what the dosage should be as he wanted to do more bloods to check my pituitary etc. I sent a text and he replied that everything looks good so not sure why I'm low. What dosage should I expect at age 47 5'10" , 20% body fat at 190 pounds. What else should I ask for? Should I ask for anything to control estrogen and should I be on hcg as well or should I just start with testosterone. I work out regularly for the past year pretty much just lifting weights. I train one to two body parts per day 3 to 4 days a week. Just thought I'd add that. I did notice that I wasn't putting on size the way I used to so hoping /expecting this to fix that as well as some of the other problems I'm having. E.g. energy, motivation, sex drive, and erectile issues on occasion.
Any advice would be great.

You'll probably start at 100mg/wk and see how that treats you. If you're still not quite satisfied, and your numbers aren't quite there, they usually bump it up. Just DON'T fixate on the numbers like many do - it's a trap where we seem to think that more is better, which isn't always the case. Go by how you feel, as that's truly what matters. ;)

Give that sticky a good read over, I'm sure it will answer any lingering questions, or perhaps give you new ones that we'll be able to answer. I am definitely excited for you as TRT is a life-changer when truly needed.

My .02c :)

Ok thanks guys. ..
I'll keep you posted as to my progress. .. I'm sure I'll have some questions while I'm on this journey.
I did see that someone had a post saying that doctors don't prescribe hcg or Ai in Europe. .. hope this isn't true in Ireland but I think I will find out soon enough.

If I get dialed in correctly I shouldn't need an Ai correct?
Also not sure I will need hcg at my age unless not having my testicles working puts me at more risk with other things such as prostate etc.

Not really - it depends partly on where you want/need your levels to be to feel good. Going without an AI usually means having to "settle" for more midrange testosterone levels. There are advantages to this. It may be overall healthier, but you may not get the results in terms of feeling great, building muscle, etc. that you might have with higher levels. It's a tradeoff.

There are still advantages to hcg even if you don't care about fertility. For one thing, it will increase your chances of successfully being able to go back off of TRT if unforeseen circumstances make you change your mind.

Read the link provided to you in Post #2 as it addresses this.
