Scars recently had a thread on how to keep gains while training off cycle.
The routines discussed were very short, in terms of volume per bodypart and involved training like 3 days a week, with the emphasis on achieving muscle failure, with a minimum amount of sets. The focus of the read was on adequet recovery time..especially for older guys like me.
Now, while on gear recovery is easier, or at least feasible training longer and more often .
I d like you to tell me what you think, and about how many sets per bodypart you do and how often you hit them. And what you think of my lil scheme..
I still focus on compound movements..train each body part 2 in 10 days or so.
As a rule of thumb, I do 1-big one, 1-little one, and 1 or 2 of what I call "accessories "..calves, abs, forearms.
Like this- Day 1-Chest, tri s, abs
Day 2-back, bi's, calves
Day 3-shoulders, traps,forearms
Day 4 - legs- abs.
Aerobics 3 times for 20 minutes..when ever..not 2 days in a row unless I'm cutting. I do it for my heart. When cutting, I do it 5 times a week for 30-40.
I may train 2 on 1 off..3 on 1 off..every other day..Life dictates what I can do..job, girlfriend, kids..how and what I ve eaten..injury..and all that..
I prefer a.m workouts.
My big body parts ussually get 10-12 working sets..little ones 6-9..accessories ..6-8.
What ya ll think ?
