mranak's liver enzymes: up

Had bloodwork done while using 1-2g of test enan and maybe 750mg of nandrolone decanoate. I had discontinued 120mg of Oxandrolone some weeks prior to the test as well. Notably results from the hapatic function test:

Enzyme: value (top of normal range)
AST: 72 (40)
ALT: 126 (60)

Previous bloodwork, every three months, has had liver enzymes well within the normal range.

I'm skeptical that the injectables caused the significant increase. Looking at other possibilities, Oxandrolone (Anavar) is the first suspect. Exercise is perhaps the next (eg I started running in the week prior to the bloodtest and I've had awful shin splints). And finally we have other medical causes, just as getting a piece of fat in my liver.

I'm waiting on the full blood test results (which I believe include more comprehensize liver function tests).

After this bloodwork, I started using Oxandrolone (50mg twice/day) and d-bol (15mg twice/day). I have now, of course, discontinued the orals.

Yes, I seriously doubt it's the injectables. How many weeks had you been off the anavar? Any alcohol intake close to the test? Currently taking any other Rx meds?

My liver enzymes were also recently up slightly and ive been off sauce for 7 months. Its really frustrating trying to figure out the exact cause.

A high protein diet may also be part of the cause, milk thistle is great for helping the liver function optimally especially due to high protein diets.

I would want to believe that the orals are the cause of your elevated LFT's. Alcohol usually causes and elevated GGT, so I would not think it is ETOH related regardless of your ETOH intake (which I beleive is not high).

I think at that dose of anavar, it sounds like it could have been the cause. I would get some Liv.52 and Pro Liver...use them till they are gone...wait a few weeks and get tested again. Also, what about usuing a stationary bike for cardio instead of running? Or fuck some hoes :).

Thanks for responding.

I just pulled my results off the fax machine. Apparently, LabCorp doesn't include GGT in the hepatic function panel. arg. My best guess as to why is that the GGT requires fasting and this will cause confusion.

Hepatic Function Panel
Protein, Total, Serum: 7.0 g/dL (6.0-8.5)
Albumin, Serum: 4.7 g/dL (3.5-5.5)
Bilirubin, Total: 0.4 mg/dL (0.1-1.2)
Bilirubin, Direct: 0.12 mg/dL (0.00-0.40)
Alkaline Phosphatase, Serum: 92 IU/L (25-150)
AST (SGOT): 72 IU/L (0-40) H
ALT (SGPT): 126 IU/L (0-55) H

Do you think I should get an ultrasound done on my liver to rule out having fat in it or whatever? Probably not, but I thought I'd ask. Appreciate your input.

Is this the first time they've been elevated? If so, IMO an ultrasound would be jumping the gun a little. If they're elevated a second time after taking measures to lower them, then I'd get some testing done. Wait a minute...aren't you in the UK? Universal health care has it's advantages, hardly any, but some :)

The UK? lol. Nope. Although it seems like half the people I work with are from the UK.

My physician sent me a form to get the ultrasound done. My plan of action is to discontinue orals (already discontinued) and see what my liver panel shows next time around.

check to see if you have hep-c , very comon in some areas of the usa , if u have a tattoo than you are at high risk . good luck
Thanks, but the chances of my having hepatitis C are extremely low, especially considering that the infection would have had to have been recent. I'll leave it at that.

sorry to hear about your problem..but just hung up with a buddy and same problem but no orals at all he is on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) 45 yrs old only 50mgs of cyp 1x wk but 1000 mgs of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and 6 ius growth ..on for over 1 yr..high liver count and now ultra sound showed fatty liver??? he doesnt know what to do next..i told him i'd kill the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) retest blood 4 weeks and redo ultrasound ? anybody?

dude hear me out : fat on liver tissue means that your liver is damaged
and its because most of the fat metabolism is going through it.
so when fat accumulates there, it menas that some of the fat metabolism is stopped coz cells are not working.
liver cells tend to die all the time , and coz some of the cells "explode" the enzymes are "falling" to the blood . when more cells die more enzymes "fall" to the blood. that explains why your values are high.

you have to stop all 17A steroids ASAP , and just wait coz the liver has the highest chance for recovery alot of stem cells will create new liver cells.

good luck
