So even if u had a hard work out and your muscles arnt sore the next day much does that jsut mean ur work out was just shit?

NO definately does not mean that. Soreness is not an indicator that the workout was good or not. Now if you are sore than the muscles were worked hard and possibly worked in a way that they are not used to. But if you are not sore, then that does not mean that the workout was not effective.

oks thanks l was gettin paranoid that it may not be working as effective but it is true l am going up i weight in my exercises so i guess it is all good then :)

I usually use it as a good indicator that I really hit it good. If im not sore at all I feel like I should have done more. But thats just me. Like they said if your weights are goin up then your doin fine.

soreness is just a buildup of lactic acid in your muscles, the way it leaves your body is from pumping blood through it. therefore, if you have increased heart rate and such you are not going to nearly build up as much lactic acid to feel "sore"

actually soarness isn't lactic acid build up. Its caused by microscopic tears in your muscle that fill with fluid causing inflamation, ie the soreness. The only time you feel lactic acid is during anarobic exercise, kind of like the phrase "FEEL THE BURN".

So if soreness is caused by small tears in the muscle then how come they say that a workout is still effective if your muscles do not ache the next day? If you're not sore then doesn't that mean you haven't damaged the muscle fibres to make them grow back stronger?

actually you are tearing/causeing trama to the muscle fibers every time you move, whether its your fingers or doig a 600lbs squat. I'm not an expert on this by no means just what I've learn through 5 years of exercise science classes. SO I'd imagine their is either less trama being caused because the muscle is use to the motion/stress, the body is more efficient in the repairs, or both. There are probably other factors as well.

blood repairs the tears, and if there is no blood present in all the tears, lactic acid will be there. however, you are correct
