Must Have Supplements

I've never really used supplements before and its kinda hard sorting thru all the stuff as to what I really need. I know that eventually I would like to go on gear but that wouldnt be for a few months down the road. My currents situation is I'm trying to get back into the swing of things so my workouts are 4 day/week lifting and 2day/week cardio. Right now I am trying to lose a few pounds so I am keeping my calories to around 1700/day. I am 37 225 and would like to lose my gut while firming up in the process.

So what supplements should I be taking? Any advice would be great.
 
stick with the basic dude,
Protein powder for Post workout
pre workout & creatine mono pre workout
fish oil, multivitamins.

Don't need to get broke buying supplements (save that $$ for gear) lol
 
Thanks for the advice, this stuff sure gets expensive fast. I'm thinking a good preworkout would be good too.

Yeah that's what I meant, a pre workout with creatine IMO, I find creatine monohydrate boosts endurance and strength, I really like the pre workout craze, with 2.5g DMAA (in a full bottle of craze) DMAA is the main ingredient in Jack3d which is now banned.
 
If I had to choose two things to have, it would by my ON Gold Standard protein powder, and some preworkout. I'll switch up the preworkout. I've tried 1mr which worked well but tasted awful, C4 which was pretty good but had to take too much, nano vapor which was ok, and now I'm taking jacked micro which is my favorite.
