My grocery cart for 2 weeks worth of meals...

Hey Cashout, I was curious as to what the rest of your family eats. Not to sound nosey or whatever, but didn't know if your wife followed your same feelings about food. I have no doubt that your family eats healthy, but we've found that it's not really expensive for my husband and myself to eat, but our 3 girls don't eat as "strict" as we do. So, sandwich thins, pb &j, some snack stuff for school, etc.
It was just a passing thought I had as I remembered your thread on eating out with your family.

Actually, my wife is not really very "in to" health and fitness, diet and exercise.

Yup, you read that correctly!

She pretty much eats whatever she wants and she never lifts weights and only does limited cardio.

She has great genetics to begin with but she really has no interest in the type of things I do in this area.

Now my wife understands that what I do really is not about "health and fitness" per se. It is the framework though which I have trained myself to be successful at whatever I've tried.

I adopted my philosophy at the age of 15 and by the age of 18 I was already competing at a very high level as a body builder. I used the same principles I developed through body building to graduate from college in 3 years with a 3.976 GPA. I used them again to co-found, grow, and sell a 300 million dollar business and retire at age 30. I used them again to go back to school and earn a PhD and later to become a highly distinguished research professor at a national university.

So, she gets me and what this is all about. It really has very little to do with the orignal task of body building - it is a paradigm for the successes in my life and the model through which I set and achieve my goals

My boys are young and they are allowed to eat what they like - they are kids and I would never impose my perspective on them artificially. One day if they want to do like good ole Dad that is fine but it is not for me to dictate.

That's awesome!

I have a 5 year old and I treat him the exact same way.

i didnt mean to be rude, i meant nice try in trying to offer a cheap diet. dont get so defensive. i'm just simply saying meat in the uk is stupidly expensive and a cheap bodybuilding diet is impossible.

also, wow at the 300 million business. what did you do?

I am just constantly amazed about how small our grocery bill can be while it seems the kids' portion takes much more of the grocery budget. I just wondered if you found the same to be true :). It does help for us that we eat quite a bit of venison and buffalo (and process ourselves), so the meat portion of our budget isn't bad with the exception of the chicken.

Lucky for your wife to have good genetics. I have to work really hard. If I drive by a bakery I think I gain 10lbs...lol!

I just followed the list at Sams club and it was pretty spot on give or take a few bucks. I found 6lb Tyson chicken for about 12$ a bag. I bought 18lbs and 3 lbs Tilapia, the rest of the list is the same. My total came out be 134$ and some change. Now I just got to stick to the plan. I’m currently 190lbs at 11%. I would like to be between 190 and 200 with no more than 9% by early summer.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the tips and diet info that was really cool of you.
