i was doing a heavy 5x5 program and i was watching a guy beside me work out. he used light weight but squeezed the shit out of his contraction and he is ripped all to shit. his dieat is mint also.
You still need intensity plus leaning up is mainly diet + cardio not necessarily how you lift (unless you're talking about resistance circuit training which can be considered cardio).
when dieting you need to lift heavy so your body knows it needs to keep the muscle to handle the weight. using light weights on a calorie deficit is asking for catabolism
6-8 rep range is great for cutting because it ramps up your metabolism and keeps you burning calories much longer than that of the higher rep range, but i like to throw in a high rep set to flush the muscle
