Need Help With Diabetes And Gear Use

Here is the big story of it. My wife is 32 weeks pregnant, and started labor. Since this was too early they tried to stop it, but at first were not successful. So they gave her a shot of steriods to help develop the babys lungs incase of delivery. Now during this time they took her blood sugar level and it was very high, like 180 or something, but they said that the steriod shot could do that. She has been monitoring it for that last few days at home with this new machine she has and now it is back to normal. I started PROP this week and stupid me, had her take my level. It first came back at 260!, then we did it again and it was 180. I blew it off because I didnt want my wife getting all suspicious and said that the machine wasnt working right. Now here is the big question, I have a brother in law who is insulin diabetic, he was planning to do a cycle of test, how bad is this? If anyone has any experience here or knows a thread that address this, it would be most appreciated. Oh, incase you were wondering, they were able to stop the labor, and everything is okay there now. She is just on bedrest for the next 4 weeks or so.

260 sounds like diabetic levels bro - go see the doctor and tell him about the reading. Don't mention the gear. If you are developing diabetes you need to know ASAP! I do not think that what you're experiencing is a temporary thing.

I try to keep factors separated when it comes to evaluating cause and effect. But something which REALLY concerns me is how many times I've seen this happen. A man in his late 20s or 30s developing JUVENILE onset diabetes after or during a cycle of steroids. How could this happen? It honestly scares me.

I hear you Greek, but like I said right after about 2 min later it was 180. Plus my wife just called me a little while ago and said that the doctor confirmed it, the accucheck wasnt working properly, because the just got her lab results back....now she is hypoglycemic, it never ends. But I will track it. My main concern is for someone who is a known insulin dependent diabetic and want to use gear. How serious is the risk.

Your blood sugar lever was 180?!!!

My dad has diabetes and normal blood sugar lever is about 6, YES 6!!!
WHERE THE HELL DO YOU GET 180 FROM?

A high blood sugar level is like 9 or 10!!! NOT 180!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure about you Canadians, but we measure blood sugar in milligrams per deciliter. By this scale, your father would be in a coma at 6. Normal ranges are 65-110. ;)
