A guy i know that homebrews said i really dont have to put the beaker in A pan of water that i could just Put the beaker on the flat glass top stove that i have. Can i do it this way. Does it matter which way?
doesn't really matter dude. all you're doing is heating up the powder until it dissolves. i would do it with the water but it makes no difference whatsoever

Just personal preference really. The flat stove top would make the beaker hotter and more dangerous to handle. Use a hot pad/ hot pad gloves either way you do it though
