New doc wants me off to retest

Hi,
I started on the week of October 14 and took my last shot of testosterone c this past Friday, March 7th. I was take 100 mg's split twice a week and 750iu's of HCG 3 times a week. I was on for 21 weeks.

I am now going to the VA for care. They said that even though I have 2 labs showing under 300, they need their lab to show it. The doc just said stop taking the testosterone for a month and come back for a test.

I know this sounds like a stupid question but......what's going to happen? Will my nuts shrink? Should I stop the HCG too?

Thanks

Hello,

You will probably notice all the low T signs again, in regards to atrophy it would only be temporary until you start hCG again. Ask your doc about stopping the hCG but I would assume yes because it will increase your tT for the labs if you are on it.

I sent them an email and they said to stop that too.

I asked him again how long I needed to be off to return to baseline and they said a month should be good. Do you think that's enough time?

So, I switched doctors once during chemotherapy, just as my cancer had gone in remission. My new doctor said I had to quit the chemo until the cancer came back before they would treat me for cancer.

Oh wait, that didn't really happen, it's just a good analogy to point out how idiotic and downright mean these doctor's decisions are.

you are on 750 i.u. HCG 3 times a week = 2250 i.u. a week ?
and on 100 mg T two times a week ?
Why did u change docs ?
Ah...the dreaded come off your TRT requests from endo's....
I don't understand why they do that stuff. They don't even propose a restart in most cases...they simply tell the patient to discontinue the treatment not taking into account that the pituitary might not be able to barely function again.
ask them would they tell a diabetic to discontinue diabetic meds and insulin ?
Discontinuing TRT the way most endos propose has a huge effect on ones quality of life....
this is absolutely atrocious behavior. Who's to say a patient can't have a heart attack or stroke upon cessation of TRT and made to live with hypogonadal T levels...all to fulfill the wishes of 1 individual.

Hi,
I split the doses. It was 50mg's twice a week for 100mgs of testosterone and 250iu's for 750iu's of hCG total.

I'm switching docs because I want the VA to manage my total healthcare. I'm getting tired of seeing a TRT doc, then a regular doc, then a doc for my back, then the neurologist, etc. I just want one place.

Hello,

A drug is considered eliminated after 5 half lives(97% gone) so for test cyp if you account 5-7 day half lives you should be fine after 30 days :)

It doesn't always work that way.
I tried that approach and it didn't work. If your doc is a TRT doc....
I would assume it means he knows his stuff or stuff that a GP would not know at other clinics.
who knows what you'll find at this place...
that's why you should always have copys of labs showing your diagnosis for anything especially hypogonadism.

What if T was administered every 3-4 days (I.M. shots and divided doses) how long would you say it would take to clear from the system to get a "baseline"?

Are you going to try to restart your natural test? If not you are in for a miserable month. On a plus side your test results will show extremely low to no test, so you shouldn't have any problem getting back on trt.

Seeks like it's easier to just self trt?? Also does insurance cover trt?
I hve cycled very stupidly and trt may very well be in my future

Hi,
They don't want to do a restart. They need to have a sub-300 score on their charts, from their lab. Even though Quest Labs is a nationally recognized lab, it's not their lab and they won't accept it.

You would stop everything.... its only a month man, dont stress. then go get tested and jump back on.

I've never understood this, why would they want you to come off to be tested, obviously your still gonna be suppressed.

Health care bullshit. Make money off of tests. Maybe they do it for insurance reasons a little CYA for them. They have stupid sensless rules, Im seeing it first hand as I watch my mother go thru all the BS for treating her cancer.

seems like they want to verify it for the record in this case. His levels will obviously be very suppressed 1 month after discontinuing all agents.
It's the Endo's/Docs that say don't take anything for 3 months and come back and we will retest that are the worse by far.
You actually have to endure more torment living hypogonadal for a while longer till he even looks at you....and the doc damn well knows you are suffering. I've had docs do this to me and it carried on for 16 months with HYPO levels of T. He said I should go to psychologist.
Con artists.
