was always athletic in high school / college but never lifted. hovered around 175 all through college, lean and muscular.
fast forward to my early 30's, tear some goodies in my shoulder while building a bunk bed for my kids. figure that's enough of that dad bod shit, time to get in the gym. was about 200# low 20's % bf then.
did everything wrong like most guys getting back to the gym in their early 30's. finally got educated and starting figuring things out a year into it and made some progress. shoulder got so badly impacted there were times i could standing shoulder press 80# dumbbells and times i couldn't lift a glass of water off the table. but! 185# at 12% and looking pretty good, feeling pretty good for a late 30's guy.
surgery, new job, life.. kept me out of the gym for over a year.
started getting back into lifting. started lifting heavy (for me)with some new coworkers. 400# squat, 360 bench, 485 deadlift. 315 incline bench. peaked at 195# at about 8%.
surgery... 2 ventral hernias, 2 umbilical hernias that i'd had for years and years and years. they looked terrible when being lean. barely noticed them when covered in fat.
surgery #2 for ventral herinias (when they say take 6 weeks off, it's best to listen, not get back in the gym on week2 :/ )
laid off, new job.. back in the gym again now. finally have found my niche in physique training.
i'll be 43 in February, 200# 8% was my summer.
just starting winter bulk. looking to maybe step on stage the end of 2017. gotta get these hernias tucked away again. going with a micro incision and net this time instead of old school big cut and stitching.
