Beast in the Gym
Okay, so I was pretty psyched when I saw the new MR gear rolling out. Well, I just got a few items in yesterday:
- Muscle Research Fleece Zip-up Hoodie
https://www.mrsupps.com/Products/279/Muscle+Research+Fleece+Zip-up+hoodie/
- Muscle Research Gym Shorts
https://www.mrsupps.com/Products/281/Muscle+Research+Gym+Shorts/
- Muscle Research Compression Muscle Tee
https://www.mrsupps.com/Products/277/Muscle+Research+Compression+Muscle+Tee/
- Muscle Research Compression Shorts
https://www.mrsupps.com/Products/278/Muscle+Research+Compression+Shorts/
I actually ordered one of everything and they were cool enough to ship those out to me ahead of time and I'm just waiting on:
- Muscle Research Sweat Pants
https://www.mrsupps.com/Products/282/Muscle+Research+Sweat+Pants/
- Muscle Research T-Shirt
https://www.mrsupps.com/Products/280/Muscle+Research+T-shirt/
I didn't waste any time. I pack my gear for the gym and take it with me to work so I can change and head right over. So instead of what I had packed, I went ahead and tossed on the new MR gym shorts along with my cut-off and then wore the new MR hoody over top on the way over.
I also tried on the compression shorts and compression shirt, as well.
Compression Muscle Tee and Compression Shorts Review
Both compression items fit just as expected. You almost think the shirt looks a bit big for a compression when you hold it up, but as soon as you start putting it on, you realize it fits how it should lol. I still have to get use to those sleeveless compression shirts, because I absolutely hate having my shoulders partially covered (which is true of any sleeveless cut over a tank top cut). That said, they're great to wear under items when you don't want the full sleeves of compression gear and I'm sure I'll work my way up to being used to wearing it on its own, too. The compression shorts have a little drawstring in them; that's the main difference between them and just a pair of spandex compression shorts I wear underneath when I'm playing basketball or football (or running). They are likely just a tad thicker and to be honest, they actually look pretty good. If you're a guy who has killer wheels, I think you could definitely justify wearing them as regular shorts. If you're someone who competes, you'll love them as an option since you're already used to posing trunks. The one thing to point out with this is you obviously have the bulge to factor in if you're wearing them without something over top lol.
I also think they'd make a great option for the women because of how they fit. So keep that in mind.
Gym Shorts Review:
The gym shorts fit just like a pair of Nike or Adidas gym shorts do. They sit just below the knee, but not by much. The inseam also doesn't feel like it's super low, which is nice. I got mine in XL and I'm considering grabbing another pair a size or two smaller to see if they sit just a tad above the knee for my leg days (as sort of a compromise between normal gym shorts and going full spandex). The logo is simple, yet cool enough to be noticed. I like that it's not stuff all over the place as I usually wear solid colored shorts that at the most have the 3 colored stripes down each side (as I'm partial to Adidas in the short game).
Hoodie Review:
Now the hoodie -- all I can say is wow. So the picture definitely makes it look cool, but I was not prepared when I pulled it out of the box for how insanely soft it is. Oh, man, it's soft. Now the other thing you'll want to keep in mind is that it's thinner. It's very much like the pull-over hoodie t-shirts that are that very soft material except it's just a tad thicker than that and it has the benefit of being a full-zip. But it's definitely not that heavy material that winter hoodies are. In fact, the first thing I thought of is that this is exactly what I like to wear in the evenings whenever I go on vacation to the beach (when it gets a bit cooler because of the breeze, but still isn't cold). I'll wear zip-up hoodies like that zipped almost all the way up, but without any shirt underneath and it's very comfortable. The other thing is, you really won't have much room for anything other than 1 t-shirt underneath it. It's a fitted hoodie. I got an XL and I'm definitely a big guy, but some XL items run a little big looser on me (just varies from company to company and item to item), but this one clings. Now for the gym, it's awesome and obviously if you're proud of what's underneath, it showcases pretty well (not like the compression gear, but definitely holds to the body). So keep this in mind when you're ordering that you do not want to order smaller than what you normally do and in fact may want to move up one (depending on how you want it to look/fit). But yeah, this is an amazing piece of clothing and I love it. It fits, feels and looks amazing. And I had everyone at the gym jealous last night not only at the look, but at how soft it was (they couldn't keep their hands off the inside of the hood lol).
I bought an XL in each of the items and I'm just a hair over 6' and am currently sitting a little over 250, but that can swing down to 225, as well.
I'll update once I get the other 2 items and if I do any other sizes, as well. I'll also try to snap a picture or two of how they fit me so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about (particularly with the hoodie).
But Muscle Research hit it out of the park with these. They did not skimp on quality and this is stuff you'll want to wear all the time (I'm seriously about to go through my closet and get rid of a bunch of old supp company shirts that are that really rough, boxy material since I now have this as option).
