No change with TRT, doc wants to reduce due to RBC count

Well, my saga continues. I found a different doc who specializes in TRT and male health issues. During my first consultation, I explained my situation and instead of more TRT, he prescribed Clomid, 25mg daily. That was a month ago and they just got my labs back. My total testosterone is 359, up from 200 TTL prior to all treatment. (don't know the range, the nurse just gave me that number over the phone).

I still feel like death warmed over, no different than before TRT or Clomid.

I have a follow up appointment scheduled, but his first available is 2 months away (all docs in my area are equally busy). So I'll slog away with the same Clomid dose until then. So, on to my questions. I do have some test cyp left over from my previous doc, nearly a month's months supply if I inject 200mg of test cypionate once per week. I was doing 100mg once per week and it barely bumped my up from 200 to 340 TTL. Would it be advisable to do so while continuing on Clomid? I shouldn't have much trouble getting Test outside of the normal sources until I can find a doc who'll prescribe a reasonable treatment plan.

I'm just really frustrated. Over a decade of being misdiagnosed or no diagnosis, then 8 months after diagnosing myself with low testosterone I STILL haven't been able to get proper treatment. I just want to start feeling better and I'm just sick of feeling like this. Unfortunately, I simply cannot afford the online treatment options.

we have some as low as 350 that will be better than what your doing.

it can be as cheap as just 5 bucks a day, you can afford it if you really want to.

Did he even test LH/FSH? Pointless to prescribe clomid if he doesn't even know your baseline values and if clomid is even doing something, which it looks like it's not.

Don't settle, I too went a DECADE undiagnosed/misdiagnosed - which cost me dearly, and I'm still fixing facets of my life that were ruined 5 years later.

Docs like the OP have are the ones causing a big deal of the problems with TRT. Instead of focusing on lawsuits against the makers of drugs. ..they should really have docs that know what theyvare doing. They need to be held accountable for their poor level of care.

Yep, he viewed my labs. I don't know if he made the decision to prescribe Clomid due to my LH and FSH, or if he's just taking a cautionary approach because of my hematocrit craziness.

Get a sleep study done man.

What would that show? Do you think sleep issues would cause Test levels as low as mine? I know sleep problems can contribute to lower testosterone and also be a symptom of it, but would it be a primary factor? I've been battling insomnia for years, but when my TTL increased slightly with low dose TRT, it subsided, so I think it was likely a symptom, not a major contributing factor. But I don't know much about it.

Does anyone have any comment on my question? Would it be advisable to use my existing testosterone cypionate surplus and give myself 200mg weekly in addition to Clomid while waiting on my follow up appointment that's 2 months away?

Sleep apnea can absolutely cause low T levels and exacerbate the symptoms....
it can also be a side effect of TRT.
I cant believe no one mentioned to you to to check it out.

Please find for another Doctor. The last thing you want is a doctor that is not right for you and your situation.

I would surely be tempted to dump in 200mg myself but I would REALLY want to make sure my hematocrit levels were OK before I did! You can order a blood test yourself online and have the results back in just a couple of days. I found a CBC (complete blood count) on a lab website for $22. Just a thought...

I wouldn't start supplementing your treatment until you get everything squared away with your doctor. Adding medications such as test will affect your results and thus how your doc wants to treat you.

This makes sense. I'd tell him what I plan to do. I just think it's ridiculous to have to wait two months just to get an appointment to discuss the results of my labs, which shows that the current treatment obviously isn't working. I'm going to call him on Monday, let him know I just need a TRT prescription that has a chance of getting me into the normal range, otherwise I'm going elsewhere.

@ halfwit.told megatron of my problem..he told me to ask you. i'm on pain meds for 6 years now. my test has been low for 3 years now, blood work 2 weeks ago & it's 211.. took natural test boosters. got my test to 436. still didn't feel good on them. miserable past year. pain meds for lower back isues.2 hurinated discs. 1 is pushing on spinal cord. major pressure.. can't get off meds till back is fixed.4 x day oxy's 15mg. & fentanyl patch 25mg every 72 hrs. megatron said about doing a ai monotherapy. instead of TRT. also thinking of doing a cycle to get some muscle back that i lost for having low test for so long, any help what to do would be great. thank you...you can pm me on this.rather than here.

Some increased blood cell is expected. This is after what increases your endurance.

Just FYI Dr Morgantaler from the University of Harvard states they reviewed as many TRT cases as they could in the New England Journal of Medicine and were unable to find a single instance of stroke or MI related to TRT induced increased cell count.
