Not training biceps directly?

I have a knuckle injury that I'm not quite sure how I got, but it was swollen really bad after a basketball game about 3 weeks ago. Now, the swelling has gone down, almost to the point of the knuckle looking normal, but I still can't make as tight a fist as the other hand. I also get really bad pain if I just touch/grip something the wrong way. Obviously, this has hurt my training, even after I took a reluctant week off from the gym. My lifts have all gone down, to the point of them being downright shameful (as if they weren't before) but I can't help it--I simply can't do certain lifts that directly hit my pointer finger's knuckle. This includes the following lifts: any kind of direct bicep/forearm lift (every curl variation), most pulling exercises (yes, including deads) and some dumbbell work. I have yet to see a doctor (long story) but plan to within the next week. I guess my real question should be; should I keep training and just try to avoid the aforementioned lifts (which I'm finding very difficult) or should I stop lifting until my knuckle/hand is fully healed?

If it's a lift where you don't have to use that finger, but it hurts it, and it's pulling; try straps until the pain goes away.

I'd get it checked out by a doc. Make sure it's not broken or have any really fucked up ligaments or tendons. Then use straps till it stops hurting.
