Olympic straight bar is used for squats

Here is an obviously-I-don't-know-shit-about-lifting question.

Do all of ya'all use the regular olympic straight bar for squats? It looks like it from some of the photos/videos I have seen. Doesn't that hurt like hell? No padding? No safety squat bar? We used a safety squat bar in high school. I have also seen this cambered squat bar, but I don't know anything about that.

Safety squat bars are a nice luxury, but many gyms do not have them and most lifters simply use the straight bar--rest the bar on the small of your back not the back of your neck and you will feel a lot less discomfort.

nothing wrong wit using various bars...however you should be able to squat with a reg bar..try moving it a little lower and see if it feel more comfortable
