I kow it's mostly water but I know I'm deff gonna keep at least 30% of it. The strength increase also has been crazy! So I don't regret starting this kick start cycle! )

I believe he's just saying don't tell someone what they should be eating with minimal information. You can't guess what someone's true needs are without A-Z information.
yes, it means .. without recording macros and following a diet you could be eating way over maintnence or way bellow thinking your really eating 4000 cals
how many times do you see on bb.com someone saying their a hardgainer and can't gain weight then when they post their diet its like a 1000cal deficit from their TDEE and they aren't really eating those 4000cals
or vice versa your eating wayyyy to much and putting on wayyyyy to much fat like it seems in this case

Just by guessing tho being 170lbs at the start eating 4000 cals a days your tdee probably sits around the 2700-2800 mark, so eating over 1000 cals a day over maintanence will put weight on anybody
