probably the most stupid question asked on steroidology...

what is the smythe? ex. smythe incline press. is it the bench press on the smith machine or something completly different?

Just know that the bar on a SMITH Machine is weighed and balanced and only weighs 15lbs. REMEMBER this shit .

the reason im asking this is because im trying to follow DC's routine and he mentions alot of smythe machine exercises. i wouldnt think thier shit if he uses them.

huh... ok, then i might have to take back what i said cause i'm not familiar with his routine.
could that be another type of hammerstrength?

not quite sure but this is what he mentions....smythe rows, incline smythe,
decline smythe, smythe presses to front, smythe presses to back of head

No idea where some of you guys get the idea the smith sucks. I do bench static contractions and bent over row static contractions. Without this machine I would NOT be able to do either of these exercises.

its the smith machine. just a fancier way of saying "piece of crap".

1. How else can you do "feet forward" squats for quads?

2. Or use as a standing calf press machine with unlimited weight by using a box and plate if your gym doesnt have a standing calf raise?

3. Or use it to hold your feet down to do full range situps?

4. Or upside down squats?

5. And many other things.

There are lots of awsome things a smith machine can do.

People think it is shit because they dont know about the many things it is used for. Its not meant to replace free weights, its means to help you do things you cant do with free weights.

My gym has a standing calf raise. plus a seated one. plus a leg press that i use too.

Ok, i guess its good to hold things like my belt, gymbag, and feet.

wtf?

BTW, upsidedown squats are the deepist squat you can do, to strengthen the lower motion of your squat.

You lie on a bench in the smith machine, and press the bar up with your feet, letting the bar down as low as possible into your body.

Hard to explain.

?? don't you have a leg press?
why not just DO squats? you know, with the bar?
how long have you been lifting?

sounds like a makeshift leg press to me

last time i looked the poepl who have squatted huge weight 900 to over 1000lbs dont really use a smith..its an unnatural motion for squatting and deads as well as barbell rows.

persoanlly i love it though it give me a polce to hang my jacket on in the winter :)

and we can use it to hold down our feet when doing abs.
its got many many uses.
the leg press contraption sounds interesting though, i guess there isn't a safety with it though unless you do it barefoot and hook the bar back up with your toes?
(he's gonna be mad at me for that post)
